"Host a Veteran" Fishing Derby
On June 11th 2022 , the 9th Annual "Host a Veteran" Fishing Derby will happen in Bronte Harbour, Oakville, Ontario.
Annual Fishing Derby and fundraiser hosting Canadian Forces Veterans and family members to an awesome day of fishing & BBQ while raising funds for Veterans Helping Veterans This is an opportunity for Canadians to recognize the service of all veterans, with focus on our Afghanistan veterans and and the same time generate funding for Veterans Helping Veterans that provide assistance to military fami
As Remembrance day is coming up I want to remind everyone to thank a veteran for their service.
“Almost Heaven” - the western basin of L Ontario!Last evening, I had the privilege of being hosted by two pro’s, that are among the most dedicated volunteers promoting our great Salmon fishery, who are also exec members of Halton Region Salmon & Trout Assn (HRSTA), Bill Jackson & Matt Urbanski. Your hard work in no small measure have helped to create the envy of our fishery, healthy King Salmon.
A big giant thank you to all the volunteers who helped behind the scenes to make the 2024 Vets Derby such a wonderful event.
Without all the helping hands before during and after we could not do such a great day.
Congratulations to all the winners. Salmon details coming in the next day or two.

1st place went to Bill Norman with captain Matt Parent - 37.75 inches
2nd place went to Llyod Jaundoo with captain Nelson Frias - 36.25 inches
3rd place went to Daniel Grozelle with captain Matt Urbanski - 34.25 inches

A big thank you to all the amazing boat captains who spent their day hosting Veterans on their boats.
We had around 40 boats and over 130 Veterans and family members who spent their morning out on lake Ontario. Many photos to come.

0600 is registration at Bronte heritage park under the gazebo. Weather is looking around 18 tomorrow.
Fishing is from 7-12
BBQ and awards to follow, if you have a lawn chair and would like to bring one please feel free. There are picnic tables and benches also.
