🐞When it comes to adorable and whimsical insects not all are created equal! Ladybugs (or Ladybirds depending on where you hang your hat!) and Asian Lady Beetles may look similar, but appearances can be deceiving! 🐞

Ladybugs are a fantastic addition to your garden as they eat pests, are good for the environment and generally keep themselves to themselves by staying outdoors.

Asian Lady Beetles however have been known to bite, can secrete an unpleasant yellow fluid with a foul odour, can attack pets, invade homes, and can harm your garden!

The easiest way to spot the difference between the two is the colouring and the markings, Ladybugs have fewer spots (usually around 7), a rich red colour, and no "m" shape on their heads. Asian Lady Beetles are more of an Orange shade, have lots of spots, and tend to have an "m" marking on their heads.

So now that you know the difference you can take the steps to keep your garden safe!
