Our group of leaders are committed to dismantling the systemic barriers that exist within our mental health system which prevent Black people from accessing culturally appropriate mental health supports and resources. This coalition aims to hold health system leaders accountable to ensuring safe, accessible, and culturally appropriate mental health programs and services for the African, Caribbean,

Papa Ladjiké Diouf is a compassionate registered psychotherapist with extensive experience in supporting mental health professionals. As a clinical supervisor at St. Paul University and the Clinical Director at SALUS Ottawa, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to every session.
He is also a co-founder of the Ottawa Black Mental Health Coalition, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing mental health services tailored to the Black community.

Conflict often arises from differing opinions or needs. Conflict in an organization, whether between colleagues or with/between clients causes stress, lost productivity, damages relationships and leads to high rates of staff turnover. Organizations perform better when they engage staff to build skills in communication and conflict resolution.
Community Conflict Resolution Ottawa (formerly Community Mediation Ottawa) is holding an online 21-hour Community Mediation training workshop on April 12th, 13th and 14th 2024.
It is expected that at the end this workshop participants will be able to:
Understand Community Mediation which includes the core values and assumptions that underpin this model of co-mediation which differs from settlement-based or other types of interest-based mediation and negotiation.
Understand conflict analysis
Use effective communication and active listening skills
Understand why mediators are to be neutral and impartial
Understand the impact of culture and identify
Understand, identify and address power imbalances in conflict resolution; and
Understand the elements of a balanced and effective understanding in the resolution of conflict.
This highly-regarded course costs $450 (including HST), and will be facilitated by some of our highly qualified mediators/trainers.
