We’re so excited to share about some of the great initiatives the OG Charity Soccer Tournament has been supporting since it launched in 2022.
Who knew that a day of playing soccer could make such a difference to the lives of people half a world away.

Join us on Saturday September 28 for the third annual OG Charity Soccer Tournament!

Thanks to your support last year, we raised and donated $6000 to support vital community programs in the Mathare Slum in Kenya. We also donated to a school in Turkiye that was in need following the earthquake there. This year we will continue to raise money for these causes - especially following the devastating floods that hit Kenya this spring.

Come out for a day of music, good vibes and delicious eats - all while playing soccer for a good cause!

Teams of all skill levels are welcome. There will be both rec and competitive divisions. The format is co-ed, 7vs7.

You’ve got questions about Truth and Reconciliation, NWAC has the answers, including the full horror of residential schools and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s final report recommendations. Follow us and learn more this month as we commemorate Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada.

Q: What is Truth and Reconciliation Day?
A: On September 30 we mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a time to remember and honour the children who never returned home and the Survivors of residential schools. Remembering is an important part of reconciliation. 🕯️

Q: What were residential schools?
A: Residential schools were church run, government funded schools that operated in Canada from the 1800s, the last one closed in 1997. Their aim was to assimilate First Nation, Inuit, and Métis children into Euro-Canadian society by removing them from their families, isolating them from their communities, and forcing them to abandon their languages, beliefs, and customs. It was a cultural genocide.

We would like to thank Ras Kwabena Simms and the Roots Movement Band for performing at our tournament after party and keeping the positive vibes going long after the last whistle! You are truly a special part of our tournament!

A very special thanks to everyone who helped make our special day run so smoothly!

This year was our best turnout yet to the ! We had 13 teams come out to play soccer for some great causes. While it was hard get everyone together for team shots, we’re sharing the ones we did manage to get!
