Sometimes taking a step away for yourself is what you need to refresh and recharge. After a loss in May, I’ve taken a step back from coaching to be able to focus on myself and my family. Sometimes it’s exactly what you need, and that’s ok. It’s ok to say no, it’s ok to choose yourself.

After a long break, I am here and ready to help you gain some sanity back and get some sleep! If you have questions, concerns, things you’d like to connect on, feel free to send me a message or book a call! Even if you just need to chat motherhood, I’m here!

🍼The MAGIC SOLUTION 🪄

Just kidding! I’m sorry! But while I have you, know that night weaning IS possible, you just have to be ready. It’s ok if you’re not ready!! Everything is in your own time, mama. 🤍

When babies are feeding in the night but they are growing well and over the age of 6 months, they don’t NEED the extra calories - but those extra hours of sleep could be so beneficial for both of you!

The trick here is…. Cold turkey. 🦃 Yes, you heard me. Drop it, girl! Some babies are habitual night feeders so if you keep giving, they’ll keep taking! The trick is to say no more. This is where we teach your little to sooth without a prop. You may not see night feeding as a prop the same way you see a paci or a lovey but they are relying on YOU to get them back down. They are capable!

**for a gentler approach, you can shorten each feed over a period of nights but this will take much longer and is not guaranteed to work.

BEDTIME CLOTHES: what baby wears to bed is very important.

It’s never comfortable to wake up in the middle of the night, sweating and unable to take layers off. It’s also uncomfortable to wake up freezing cold and not able to pull a blanket on yourself.

It’s our job as parents to make sure our babes are dressed comfortably and properly for the temperature of the room.

☀️if you’re able to, keep babies temperature at a comfortable level. 18-21 Celsius is ideal
☀️use a sleep sack to be sure baby doesn’t kick off their blanket in the night or end up with it over their head.
☀️make sure jammies you choose are not too thick or too thin for each temperature.

Toddlers can be funny. They’re growing up and all they want is a little control. This can make bedtime tricky and quickly turn it to a power struggle.

If you’re finding bedtime to be a battle, try a few little things to turn it around! Let them lead (with some guidance) so they feel in control.

SHORT NAPS can be soooo frustrating. You finally get baby down, you’re excited to have time to yourself. You make a hot coffee, you sit down and out your feet up and BAM- baby is awake. Whyyyyy?

There are a few reason this could be happening. Let’s work it out together.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Check the environment: make sure the room is as dark as possible. White noise helps drown out outside noises. No distractions- toys, blankets, mobiles. Tidy crib. Room temperature- not too hot, not too cold.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Proper wake windows: age appropriate wake windows are so key. A difference of 10 minutes can have big effects. Look for tired cues and take action quickly. If baby is taking longer to fall asleep, extending the window by 15 minutes could be the solution.

Are you responding too quickly?: there may be a chance your honey will go back down on their own. Try waiting 10 minutes to give them the opportunity to fall back asleep.

Is it time to drop a nap?: 6-9 months, babe will transition to a two nap schedule. 12-15 months, it will be time to transition down to one nap. When your bubs is having short naps, not showing normal tired signs before sleep, playing in the crib when going down, last nap is interfering with bedtime, it might be time to drop a nap!

ROOM ENVIRONMENT! Let’s set up baby’s room so their sleep environment is more than ideal!!

1. DARK- babes room should be as dark as possible. Blackout curtains, peel and stick window covers, anything to make it so you basically can’t see your hand in front of your face with the lights out.

2. WHITE NOISE- I, personally, love white noise machines to block out any outside sounds. You want a consistent sound of static or proper white noise. Avoid things like ocean sounds, lullabies, or rain drops. These noises can be stimulating with their different variations.

3. SLEEP SACKS- a cozy way for babe to keep warm in the night. For colder months you can use a higher tog (thermal insulation): 1.5-2.5. Warmer months you’ll want a lower tog: 0.5-1.5. Be sure the sleep sack is properly sized! Recommended for babies who begin rolling up to toddlers!

4. COOL MIST HUMIDIFIER- for dryer climates or colder seasons where the heat is running, a cool mist humidifier will help your baby breathe better. Also ideal for when baby is sick and congested.

5. TEMPERATURE- keeping the room at an optimal temperature is not always easy but between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius will help your little sleep. Dress your baby according to the temperature of their room.
