More details to come!
Some shots of a commissioned piece named 'Circle Of Well-being' coming together. Made from 1/4" thick weathering steel plate, it measures nearly 10' tall X 5' wide X 10" deep and weighs in at a whopping 1,200 pounds!
A commissioned sculptural Fire Bowl for a beautiful waterfront setting. This custom painted hexagonal heavy duty frame (700lbs) suspends a weathering steel bowl and appears to float in the middle.
Hoping for an invite to enjoy some s'mores fire side!
Having some fun with these hand patterned tulips press fit into beautiful dark wenge and walnut bases. Clear and candy red shown, more colours in the works!
First outdoor install of the season - a vertical wall mount sundial with matching wall sconces using the sundial cut-outs. Summer solstice, Equinox and Winter solstice lines (horizontal) and some hour declination lines. The gnomon (shadow/pointer) was 3d printed by the client's son - turned out great!
All wrapped up and ready for the journey to their new homes across the province! In the trusty hands and expert transport care of my good friend Greg GLD Industries
A commissioned sculptural sign piece 'A Sign...Of What's To Come', 5' x 10' all aluminium with a hand patterned finish and pops of colour on the 3D accents. This was the largest hand pattern finish I've done to date - what a workout! Hoping to be invited back for some wood fired pizza!
Private commissioned piece "Clunie" installed. A moving project brief with themes of legacy, respect and generosity - only constraint was location. Standing 9' tall and 5' wide, the "C" or crescent moon is all aluminum with subtle hand patterned details that shimmer in the daylight and lit from above at night.
A gravity defying ruby red 10" polished stainless steel sphere appears in motion inside the moon - a double take moment from inside the glass corridor!
I am both honoured and grateful to be included in the Koyman Galleries family of Canadian Artists! Selected works are now on display and available at Koyman Galleries in Ottawa.

An experimental piece from a new mixed media series "Roots". Excavating our emotions is a challenging process and the journey different for everyone. The hope that healing can come from unearthing our own roots of pain is something that unites us in the human experience.
Rich sculpted mahogany or walnut wood bases mixed with solid brass inlays and scrollwork converge to create these uniquely textured journeys of finding our roots.
Accent sculpture, functional art, visual garden treat and entrance anchor piece all in their new homes - beautiful!
Love Is Presence in satin rose (accent)
Sparrow's Harrow (birdbath)
Hope in ruby red (mosaic gazing globe)
Twist Of Fate (weathering steel)
Behind the scene process of making the "Hope" series of sculptures. From raw materials to finished works, there are lots of steps involved to produce a piece. After working through the concept, early prototypes and decisions around quantity and colours, here's what happens next:
- roll forming and prepping raw materials
- welding pedestal bases
- cutting, shaping and welding sculptures
- sand blasting and prep for paint
- zinc primer powder coating (bake)
- final colour powder coating (bake)
- photos, measurements, descriptions, certificates, hardware kits
- ready for sale!
There's something so special about the human connection that galvanizes during the installation process that feeds the soul. I'm honoured to have my work invited into people's surroundings and become part of their lives.
A couple of gorgeous Love Is Presence (MD) installations nestled among beautiful gardens and old growth forests.
Some beautiful Hope series installations, with or without the gazing globe, the graceful arcs and crescents evoke a sense of calm, simplicity and hope. The mosaic globes are magical, casting incredible refracted patterns in the sunlight.
Getting the final touches ready for the Open Studio event tomorrow - lots to see and interact with!
Looking forward to connecting with fellow art lovers tomorrow 10AM - 4PM (kid and pet friendly, refreshments and washroom facilities provided)
Inspired landscapes deserve a touch of magic!
In a bold and ethereal display, "Vivace-en-Verre" blossoms within gardens, graces patios, and adorns living spaces with a tranquility that transcends the boundary between indoors and outdoors.
The silhouettes bear a minimalist, contemporary design that echoes the natural world with inlayed stained water glass in a form reminiscent of tulip and lotus petals.
"Learning To Soar" Finished in a titanium metallic grey, the ribboned steel and polygon shapes gracefully ascend eleven feet into the air, drawing the viewer into the hawk’s domain.
The hoarse kee-eeeee-arr and shrill chirps coming from above are unmistakable markers of hawks nearby and the inspiration for this piece. As young fledgelings honing their skills, these incredible birds ascend level by level as they learn to soar.
"Kobra" - a roll formed piece of solid brass, brush finished and press fit into the warm sunrise red mahogany base courtesy of The WoodSource. A minimalist representation of the cobra who's spiritual significance and majesty spans the entire globe.
Love Is Presence (XL) - Individual yet complimentary arcs gently embrace a perched mirror rose glass globe nestled between them. It is our duty to protect and nurture our children, our families and our communities. This piece reminds us that often the deepest love and greatest gift to those we care about is simply being present.

Transforming the workspace ahead of the Open Studio event on Saturday - thanks to everyone who came out to support an emerging local artist!
A piece from the "Tethered" limited series in candy copper. Inspired by human connection and technology, this series investigates themes of love, freedom, attachment dynamics and the internal battle between our demon and daemon - our inner source of positivity, potential, and goodness.

"Twin Flame" limted series in satin rose, 360 view
https://gordonjohnson.art/collections/twin-flame-series
"Twin Flame" in velvet satin rose or vivid red, beautifully captures the dance between two souls irresistibly drawn together and the strength their union generates.
The arcs, representing two unique beings, join at the base, symbolizing the powerful bond that connects them while still maintaining their individuality.
These shared arcs serve as an artistic expression and also as a functional stand, showcasing the beauty and balance inherent in a true soul connection.

Weathering Steel patina is beautiful!
"Fortune Flower" made with weathering steel and a natural patina finish.
A beautifully hand crafted glass globe sits nestled inside two richly patinaed weathering steel crescents. The piece invites viewers to gaze, reflect and contemplate their good fortune.

Short for ‘Lacrosse’, Lax is a contemporary piece that embodies the dynamic essence of the sport, a game deeply rooted in the history and culture of Canada. A game initially played by indigenous peoples, it was later adopted and embraced by the broader Canadian population.
"Lax" is an homage to athletic pursuit and its power as a unifying human trait - transcending cultural borders and creating connections among Canadians.
