Not only is understanding and limiting salt consumption an important lifestyle consideration for all Canadians but it is a serious medical requirement abd health risk for many Canadians. I personally reduce my own salt consumption due to my family history with High Blood Pressure and in some cases, kidney disease.
Saltfree cooking is a palate adjustment for those of us that regularly consume salt. At Baccanalle it is our pleasure and our specialty to create and adapt dishes for various lifestyle need and dietary restrictions. Happy Black History Month!
This month is always a month of inspiration, learning and celebration for me. I personally kicked it off attending the awesome opening ceremonies hosted and organized by - to whom credit is owed for the image in this post.
Special thanks to our clients that have contacted us to help them mark or celebrate this month at their offices, schools and institutions and we will be sharing some menu specials with you this month too!
Every one of my accomplishments is influenced by the resilience and accomplishments of my parents, their siblings, friends and members of the community who set extraordinary examples for us to strive for growing up Black in Canada and the support to go with it. I remain in awe and strive to make them proud and create opportunities for our future generations. I’m full of gratitude to our team, customers, fans, collaborators, allies, and last but not least my very own friends, family (Solomons & St. Lewises) for their tremendous support. We would not be here otherwise…🙏🏽

As this year comes to an end and we get ready to ring in a new one, we wanted to take this time to thank you for your continued support.
Baccanalle has changed in so many ways since we've started but our reason for being - to share a taste of the Caribbean Lifestyle with you, to create authentic connections with our community and our customers, to innovate and be a great place to work - these goals remain the same. No surprise, our company has equally similar goals - except rather than being focussed on food, we aim to help people shop and discover Black Canadian Artisans.
In 2022 we continued to adjust to the nearly unfathomable and societal impacts on small businesses in Canada. The biggest lesson I've learned - again - expect change - there is no "new normal". I'm grateful to our teams for their flexibility - we are beyond fortunate to have them by our side along with our family - our rock.
In 2023 we look forward to new growth and partnerships. We are excited to offer more catering, meal services and menus and to grow our specialty foods & drinks. We are looking forward to growing Afrotechture in the coming year.
