🎶✨ The enchanting sounds of Into The Woods are filling our rehearsal hall, thanks to our friends at Ovation Productions - Ottawa! 🎭🌲

It’s been over a decade since these haunting melodies graced Orpheus—last heard in our 2011 production. Listening in provides some pleasant nostalgia! Ovation Productions is one of Ottawa's only local theatre companies dedicated to staging professional musicals, and was founded by Orphean Tanya Guimond. You might remember her from Orpheus' The Producers, Little Women, Shrek, and most recently, as Sandy in Grease. We're thrilled to welcome Ovation as they rehearse with us before they hit the stage at Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe - Théâtres Meridian à Centrepointe! If you attend, you'll catch other Orpheans in the cast!

We love to provide a space where everyone can access advanced arts training from accredited practitioners—all at affordable rates, and watching it grow has been a joy. Over the past 4 years, we've seen more than 50% of our students benefit from our Pay What You Want and totally free options. 💖

🥳 A Well Deserved Retirement 🥳

We were so pleased last night to help host the retirement party for the great Scottie Mitchell!

For the past few decades, Scottie was one of the Production Coordinators at Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe, and during that time, not a single Orpheus production was mounted on stage without his guidance, support, smile, and humour. A champion of the arts, both community and professional, Scottie never hesitated to go the extra mile for Orpheus, ensuring we look a little better than we actually are. ☺️

While we take credit for the high quality shows we continue to produce, and remain proud of the skills our volunteers continue to bring, we would not be able to do it all without the support of Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe - Théâtres Meridian à Centrepointe and people like Scottie. We look forward to producing more there, but will admit that it’s going to feel a little less bright without Scottie’s presence. We will miss him dearly, and wish him well on his well earned next life chapter.

🎭🎶 It's been a whirlwind at Orpheus these past few weeks!

Right after our season closer, we dived into our Schoolhouse Class Recitals with the amazing Stacey Ingrey and Wendy Berkelaar. Next up, we enjoyed the incredible Piano & Vocal Recitals hosted by the talented Kenny Hayes. And just one hour ago, the Triple Sensations Summer Camp wrapped up a delightful performance of W***y Wonka after a fun-filled week with Cindy Beaton, Shawna Pasini, and Shaun Toohey!

🌟 The young talent in this city is truly inspiring, and we're so excited to be part of their journey. Who knows, maybe we'll see some of these budding stars on the Orpheus stage next season for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or The Music Man.
