Advocacy idea!
At the current rate of progress, 110 million girls & young women will remain out of school in 2030. This puts them at a risk of violence, exploitation, and early marriage and lowers future economic sustainability.

Today, on National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, we remember the 14 women who were murdered 34 years ago at the École Polytechnique simply because they were women:
Geneviève Bergeron, Hélène Colgan, Nathalie Croteau, Barbara Daigneault, Anne-Marie Edward, Maud Haviernick, Maryse Laganière, Maryse Leclair, Anne-Marie Lemay, Sonia Pelletier, Michèle Richard, Annie St-Arneault, Annie Turcotte, and Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz.
We honour the Indigenous, racialized, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals who have been and continue to be disproportionately impacted by gender-based and colonial violence.
We draw attention to the alarming prevalence of femicide—intentional killing with a gender-related motivation—in grief and homage to all women and girls who have been killed as a result of gender-based violence.
We grieve, we mourn, and we vow to act to bring this epidemic to an end once and for all.

Graduate Women International, then International Federation of Women, celebrates 104 years. In 1919, Dean Virginia Gildersleeve, Professor Rose Sidgwick and Caroline Spurgeon came together in London with university women from Great Britain , Canada, and the United States of America to establish the International Federation of University Women (IFUW, now Graduate Women International (GWI)). They were convinced that by fostering friendship and understanding, women graduates could help prevent another catastrophe such as the World War that had just ended. It was a historic moment that marked the beginning of a movement to empower women in higher education.
Today, we celebrate the 104th anniversary of GWI and honor the visionaries who founded this organization. Their legacy lives on, inspiring generations of women to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals. More than a century later, and under the new name of Graduate Women International (GWI), thousands of women graduates throughout the world share the same principles and vision that inspired those early leaders. GWI continues to advocate in favour of secondary, higher, and continuing education for women all over the world.
Dr. Elizabeth M.E. Poskitt, a former president of GWI, has preserved the history of this remarkable organization in her archives, which can be accessed through the link provided. Let us continue to build on the foundation laid by these trailblazers and work towards a future where every woman has the opportunity to excel in higher education. https://buff.ly/3JU7bqh
Slovenia has made progress towards women's equality by recently electing their first female president (November 2022). Women are also 40% of Parliament now. Slovenia is ranked 12 out of 136 countries in women’s economic participation. Better access to quality education and concrete efforts to achieve gender equality are paying off. What is your country doing to improve education?
