What is the difference between physical and emotional self-care?
The Crisis and Trauma Research Institute (CTRI) defines physical self-care as how we “live, move, and breath”. Examples of physical self-care strategies can be going for a walk, taking a bath, eating and sleeping enough.
Emotional self-care, according to the CTRI is defined as how we “love, care, and are in relationship with ourselves and others”. Examples of this can be to be compassionate with ourselves, to identify our needs and to validate them, as well as to allow ourselves to cry.
