Every day there is a new email scam, right? Check out this sneaky one. Two came in nearly at the same time; they looked the same but were in fact from different email addresses.

Clue #1 - The Government of Canada doesn't use Interac to send money to their people.
Clue #2 - "Carbon" is spelt with a zero (0), see CARB0N TAX
Clue #3 - The email address is canada.gov@....., not a real government email.
Clue #4 - Outlook would not display all the pictures.

I'm sure there are more clues, but these are the easy ones to see right away to know these email is a scam.

What should you do? Don't click through and enter your banking information. No antivirus protection can protect you if you go ahead and provide this important information. Move the email to the junk folder and don't be fooled.

However, if you have gone through and entered your information, change your password(s) immediately, check your bank for any suspicious activity, and notify your bank. Also, you may want to have your computer scanned for virus', spyware, and more.

So, be safe online and be smart. If it seems weird, it probably is. And, the Government, and CRA in particular, is much more careful in how it communicates with you.

I hope you will all come out and support these amazing young singers and speech artists! They are heading to the BC Provincial Arts Festival in Fort St. John later this spring and could really use your help in making this trip possible.
We are looking for community businesses and individuals to sponsor this event and these performers. Sadly, there is very little funding available for the Music and the Arts as we know, so this is really an opportunity for our community to rally together and get behind these kids.
If they win in Fort. St. John, they will compete later this summer in the Western Canadian finals! It’s a huge opportunity and even more incredible that we have 6 performers from the Oceanside area who beat out the competition from much larger cities to get this far.
