Mon adolescence était de la m***e. En soi, ce n’est pas très original. Mais ma m***e en était une particulière. Une véritable diarrhée cosmique. La règle non-écrite de la banlieue disait : « Tu ne seras pas g*i et ne tomberas pas en amour avec ton professeur qui est 35 ans plus âgé que toi. » Oups. Désolé. Maintenant que nous sommes mariés depuis plus de 17 ans, je peux regarder en arrière avec détachement et humour. Mais à l’époque, le rejet planait constamment et l’angoisse me nouait les tripes. De dire que je me sentais à ma place nulle part est un euphémisme. Heureusement, j’ai découvert l’art. Et l’amour. J’ai été sauvé. Mais parfois, j’imagine rencontrer l’ado que j’étais et me questionne. Que pourrais-je lui dire pour le réconforter? Il transportait un tel néant. Il ressentait le même désespoir que Kurt Cobain qui criait dans ses oreilles. Tellement que je ne peux penser à mon ancien moi sans voir le beau visage de Cobain se désagréger dans une glorieuse aliénation. Ouais, ce portrait n’est pas ce qu’il semble être. Il n’est qu’indirectement un hommage. Je dirais qu’il s’agit plutôt d’une lettre de l’adulte que je suis à l’ado que j’étais. Une lettre qui dit : « c’est correct, tu vas passer à travers ». Et aussi : « je te suis tellement reconnaissant ». Tu devais subir ce déchirement pour ensuite pouvoir te reconstruire selon ta volonté. Métaphoriquement, tu devais mourir. Ton sacrifice est ma naissance. Un pinceau à la main, je danse désormais au-dessus de tes cendres. Je suis désolé. Non, je ne suis pas désolé.
