There has been a rise in “Veneer Techs” on social media this year. Veneer techs are not licensed dentists and have limited training in applying veneers and general oral health.

You should always get veneers from a certified dentist to ensure your new veneers are safe, well-fitted, clean and long-lasting.

If you’re interested in veneers for your smile, book an
appointment with us!

Gum health is important for maintaining a healthy body and smile. Gum disease has been associated with an increased risk of other serious diseases, such as heart disease, and inflammation in the body.

Here are some symptoms of unhealthy gums:
● Swollen or puffy gums.
● Bright red, dark red or dark purple gums.
● Gums that feel tender when touched.
● Bad breath that won't go away.
● Pus between your teeth and gums.
● Loose teeth or loss of teeth.
● Painful chewing

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms please visit our office for a checkup so we can provide timely care for your gum health!

Toothaches can be a result of a cavity, however, there could be other reasons why you may be experiencing pain.

● You clench your jaw. Many people clench their jaw from stress or anger which over time can result in toothaches.
● Your gums are receding. Your gums protect your teeth’s nerves. As they recede, they pull back to expose those nerves, causing tooth sensitivity and tooth pain.
● You eat too many acidic foods. Acidic foods can wear away at enamel leading to nerve exposure.

Over-the-counter drugs may help with pain, however, they are not a long-term solution. Book an appointment with us if you are experiencing toothaches.

Happy National Tooth Fairy Day! 🦷

A gentle reminder to maintain good oral hygiene for the benefit of your overall health. Always brush and floss your teeth twice a day for a healthy smile.

Three key benefits of dental implants:

● Natural-looking and feeling teeth
● A durable smile that can last a lifetime
● Improved oral health. Compared to dentures, dental implants stay in place which causes less irritation to your gums. Implants allow easier access between your teeth, so you can continue to floss for good gum health.

If you’re thinking of dental implants, book a consultation with us today!

Is it time to replace your mouthguard?

Over-the-counter mouthguards for sports are commonly found in most drug stores. Though convenient, they may not offer the best fit for your mouth.

Custom mouthguards made just for you and your smile. They are a more comfortable choice and can last a long time.

What are the reasons for a discoloured tooth?

A single discoloured tooth can be the result of a cavity or injury to the tooth; such as a crack, chip or root canal.

Multiple discoloured teeth can be a result of to***co use, poor dental hygiene or staining foods and drinks.

If discoloured teeth are affecting your confidence, visit our office to discuss solutions!

How to care for your Clear Aligners 😀

1. Rinse your aligners with water every night.
2. Brush your aligners with a soft-bristled toothbrush (not the one you use to brush your teeth daily) and a gentle, clear liquid soap to remove any debris or food particles.
3. Rinse thoroughly after brushing.
4. Store them in a protective case whenever they're not in use. If you’re thinking of using clear aligners to straighten your teeth, come visit us to discuss your options!

Cosmetic and restorative dentistry may seem similar, but they actually target two different types of oral concerns.

Cosmetic dentistry is primarily concerned with enhancing the aesthetic aspect (appearance) of your teeth and includes treatments such as teeth whitening, veneers, and dental bonding to reshape teeth.

Restorative dentistry tackles issues with the function of your teeth and overall oral health. This includes dental implants and fillings, both of which improve oral health and teeth function.

Our office offers both cosmetic and restorative dentistry services. Give us a call today to talk about your options!

Not sure if you are having a dental emergency? Here’s when you or your loved ones should seek assistance:

- Severe toothache and pain: To address pain in the short term, take an over-the-counter painkiller. You can also rinse your mouth with warm salt water to help reduce pain and swelling. Seek dental assistance if the pain persists.
- Chipped or broken tooth: If a part of your tooth breaks off, preserve the tooth by putting it in a container of milk or salt water until it can be repaired. Make sure the tooth stays moist at all times.
- Knocked-out tooth: If your entire tooth falls out, you may put it back in the socket and hold it there with a gauze. If it does not hold, preserve it in a container of milk until you see the dentist.
- Knocked-out baby tooth: Do not attempt to put the tooth back in its socket as it can damage any adult teeth that are coming in. If there is bleeding, rinse your child’s mouth and apply a cold compress. Seek dental assistance immediately.
- Loose tooth or teeth: Try not to touch your teeth with your hands or tongue until you visit your dentist.
- Lost filling: Use a softened piece of sugar-free gum to fill the area until you can see a dentist.
- Badly bitten tongue or lip: Use a clean cloth to apply pressure and ice to reduce swelling. If bleeding does not stop, proceed to a hospital.

Call our office for any dental emergencies to get the help you need.

It’s Ice Cream Day! Here are some things to keep in mind when treating yourself this summer:

🍦 Enjoy ice cream in moderation. Since it’s full of sugar, limiting your intake is important. Try eating it with a meal to minimize damage.
🍦 Opt for healthier alternatives. Low-sugar gelato, frozen yogurt, or sorbet are excellent options to satisfy your craving.
🍦 Limit toppings. Avoid toppings that add even more sugar to your dessert, such as caramel, chocolate syrup, and gummy bears. Instead, choose toppings with little to no sugar, like chopped nuts, fresh fruits, or shredded coconut!
🍦 Rinse your mouth with water after enjoying ice cream to wash away some of the sugar particles.

Ice cream is a great treat to beat the heat but remember to be mindful of your dental health at the same time!

The effects of smoking have been the focus of health campaigns for many years now, especially concerning lung and heart problems. All types of to***co are harmful to your oral and overall health, and smoking or va**ng also exposes you to ni****ne, an addictive substance.

Falling behind on your oral hygiene and brushing your teeth can cause various dental issues, which can trigger issues that affect your overall health as well.

Plaque build-up worsens without proper brushing and flossing, can harden over time and turn into tartar. Tartar is an ideal environment for bacteria to grow and can only be removed professionally during scaling appointments. This contributes to cavities, gum disease, bad breath, infections in your gums and bones, and much more. These issues can then affect other parts of your body, such as your heart health. The consequences can worsen very quickly if you do not have a strong immune system.

Remember to brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss once a day to maximize your daily dental routine!

Here are some things to keep in mind when caring for your dental implants once healed from surgery:

- Continue with your normal routine as you would with your natural teeth by brushing at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day.
- Consider using oral irrigators to ensure that areas around and in between the implant(s) are clean
- Visit our office for regular cleanings and check-ups 3-4 times a year.

Dental implants won’t get cavities; however, areas around your implants can become infected if not cleaned regularly. It’s important to visit the dentist regularly to check on the condition of your implants and oral health and to ensure that the surrounding areas are adapting well to the new implants.
