Anyone who’s had a will tell you – the road to recovery is exhaustive.

While rest is a crucial part of the healing process, there are a number of ways in which an OMP can help ease you through a return to normal activity.

With an approach focused on the long-term concerns of a concussion, an OMP will use gentle manipulation techniques to release tension in your cranial bones, muscles, and fascia. With this, stress on your nervous system brought on by a concussion will begin to lessen as your body works to restore itself post injury.

If you have experienced a concussion, contact an OMP to get started on your individualized treatment plan. To find a practitioner near you, visit:

Torticollis – or wry neck – most commonly presents in infants and babies and deals with the compression of nerves that cause the head and neck to tilt to one side.

While seeking to understand the root of the problem, an OMP will work restore the range of motion in the head and neck through soft tissue techniques on the affected muscles and other passive manual manipulations that work to release spasm and improve blood flow.

Whether you or your child are experiencing wry neck (torticollis) – an OMP can help! To find a practitioner near you and get started on the path to restoring neck strength and mobility, visit: https://osteopathyontario.org/site/findapractitioner

What is a pelvic tilt?

This common postural abnormality occurs when your pelvic muscles tend to lean more toward one side and is often caused by over stretching or underworking the pelvic muscles. As a result, people with pelvic tilt often experience back pain.

OMPs are well versed in the area of back pain related to pelvic tilt. Working with you to develop a treatment plan that fits your needs, OMPs will place a strict focus on stretching exercises intended to relax the muscles that may be holding your pelvis in an anterior position. By relaxing these muscles, pressure will ease up on your diaphragm – giving your body the relief it craves.

A common occurrence for those aged 60 and up, is often described as a ringing, humming, or buzzing in the ears. Every case is slightly different – some people hear noises all the time while in others it comes and goes. Because pinpointing the underlying cause can also be difficult, an individualized treatment plan is recommended.

Using a hands on approach, an OMP can help improve symptoms and outcomes associated with tinnitus by:

• Releasing muscular facial tension
• Reducing nerve irritation
• Improving joint mobility

Do you suffer from IBS?

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) affects millions of Canadian each year. Depending on the severity of related symptoms like bloating, cramping, diarrhea, or constipation – IBS can leave you down and out for days at a time.

While there are a number of quick fixes to ease symptoms in the short-term, osteopathic manual manipulation offers a drug-free, non-invasive approach to easing long-term digestive problems related to IBS. Through manual manipulation techniques like massaging and stretching, an OMP will work with you to improve the severity of your symptoms and the impact they have on your quality of life.

During pregnancy – especially in the mid-to-late stages – your body undergoes a number of changes as it works to adapt and allow for your baby to grow. As your ligaments soften and your centre of gravity gradually shifts, these “growing pains” can often lead to discomfort for both mom and baby.

An OMP will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan that allows them to gently guide your body through the use of soft tissue massage, mobilisation, stretching, and other techniques that help maintain optimal function. In addition to easing aches and pains during pregnancy, an OMP can help you prepare for childbirth by improving the mobility of the bones of the pelvis.

If your 2022 was filled with aches, pains, soreness or recurring injuries, it’s time to take a proactive approach to your health and wellness this year. OMPs know there’s no one-size-fits-all approach and work closely with clients to identify the underlying causes of their pain, pinpoint risk factors and develop individualized care plans tailored to their unique needs and goals.

Can Osteopathic Manual Treatment (OMT) help with ADHD?

Osteopathic Approach to the 4th Trimester Part 1 - 2nd and 3rd Trimester 08/01/2023

Here is a great example of a global Osteopathic treatment for late stage pregnancy which is very similar to the approach I employ with expecting moms.
*Please note* this video is produced by an American Osteopathic Physician or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO). They have the title "Dr." and use the term "diagnose" for their palpation assessment findings which Canadian Osteopathic Manual Practitioners (OMP), such as myself, do not.

Osteopathic Approach to the 4th Trimester Part 1 - 2nd and 3rd Trimester In this video, Dr. Meaghan Nelsen, DO, FACOOG demonstrates the principles of her approach to an Osteopathic evaluation of patients in the prepartum period, s...
