The PG branch of the CIC's mission is to provide for all Canadians to engage in global affairs.
The CIC is an independent, member-based council established to strengthen Canada's role in international affairs. Its goal is to advance the debate on global issues across academic disciplines, policy areas, and economic sectors. The council is headquartered in Toronto with 18 volunteer-run branches across Canada, including Prince George. CIC branches offer CIC members speakers programs, study groups, conferences, and seminars.

CIC Prince George is excited to host Dr. Ajith Balasooriya (Ph.D.) for a "Politics in the Pub" talk on March 28 at 5:30 p.m. Dr. Balasooriya will discuss his latest book, Legacy of Palmyra: Dual Horizontal Inequalities in Sri Lankan Conflict, and general concerns related to Community Policing for Peace and Security in post-war northern Sri Lanka.
The event will be held on the second floor, above the Black Clover pub, 1165 Fifth Ave, Prince George, BC V2L 3L1.

Indonesia's economy is surging, but political winds threaten to change its course. Where does Canada fit within this changing environment?
About this Event
Indonesia is Canada’s largest export market in the ASEAN region and bilateral trade and Canadian exports along with Canadian direct investment continues to expand. However, looming threats to the democratic norms threaten to change this trajectory. During this talk, Indonesian expert Mark Williams will explore the challenges arrayed against Indonesia’s democracy, and the implications for Canadian-Indonesian foreign relations. Former ambassador John Holmes will also share his insights into the past, present and future state of Canada-Indonesia relations. The talk will also feature a Q&A session where the audience can ask questions to both speakers.
