Starting August 14th, Northern BC Chiropractic is excited to offer student spa massage appointments! Brodie Parkinson is a student at the Alberta College of Massage Therapy and will be offering relaxation spa massages on Tuesday evenings and occasional Saturday afternoons. Please note that these massages are NOT considered therapeutic and are NOT available to be billed to your extended health benefits. This is a fantastic way to end your day or your week, and treat yourself to a relaxation massage.

Here is an idea of the tools and equipment that is in the clinic that are used to help you understand your body more, get you feeling better, and helping maintain that great feeling. You will often see me using a reflex hammer to check nerve function, a Thumper to help loosen up those tight muscles, a spine model to help explain your anatomy, or an Activator for when you want or need a different approach.

Every patient needs something different depending where they are in their care, and this variety of tools will help us work together for the best outcome for you. Whether it is manual adjustments, exercises, a gentle approach, or some deep muscle work, I am set up to help you feel better and do what you love!

If this sounds like you, book in with today for an assessment and treatment plan by calling (236) 331-7692, or online at https://northernbcchiro.janeapp.com

With it being spring and us *finally* having some sunshine, we are all getting out and about more! Whether you are going for a walk with friends (socially distanced, of course), taking the dog out, or going for a run after work, be mindful of where you are stepping. Rocks, gravel, remnants of snow banks - these all can cause us to trip, slip, and lose our balance.

Often, this type of movement hurts our ankle (and our dignity). You are not alone though; the ankle is actually one of the more commonly hurt joints in the human body. This also means we know a lot about it. When your ankle twists in (called an inversion sprain), the ligament that is most commonly affected is called the anterior talofibular ligament, or ATFL for short. The best thing to do when this happens is to make your way in for some treatment.

Research has shown that a combination of rehabilitation and manual therapies (such as manipulation, mobilization, and muscle work) can help reduce pain and improve range of motion and function. Working with your healthcare provider can help you get back to getting outside as soon as possible. Even if your sprain was weeks, months, or years ago, it’s never too late to start improving you!
