Are you looking into HVAC solutions for your building? Then it is important to keep in mind the estimated BTUs required to heat your building.
Several factors contribute to the BTU calculation, including the square footage of the building, the desired temperature, the climate zone, the number of occupants, and the level of insulation. Each of these variables affects the BTU requirements for your building. Knowing this will prevent you from overspending on a unit you might not necessarily need. If you have questions about the unit you are purchasing, always ask questions to the engineer handling your job. Better to be safe than sorry!
We all remember this sight from a couple years ago. Red skies, smoky air, and a dry heat hit B.C hard. Well, forest fire season is back upon us bringing poor air quality and added strain to air systems, especially for anyone working indoors.
To keep you and your crew as safe as possible here’s a list of some simple things you can do preemptively to make sure your building is ready for the coming season.
1. Checking the seals on doors and windows to ensure it is as tight as possible.
2. Setting your HVAC system to a recirculation mode when air quality is bad to avoid smoky air.
3. Getting new high quality air filters installed to get rid of particulates and keep your building’s air fresh.
Make sure to treat your lungs right. All of these are easy and cheap items to check off that provide a greater protection to the outside elements. If you have any further questions on how to keep your buildings air quality high, feel free to contact us to see how we can best help you!

With winter coming to a close, the advent of spring makes temperatures rise, a good way to stay energy efficient is to check your buildings setpoints. Not only are you helping save the environment, it overall reduces your energy bill. By setting your temperature to an appropriate heat for the season your equipment isn’t run as heavily, overall reducing energy use.
By setting your temperature 1°C closer to the outside temperature you could actively cut the energy required by your building by a whopping 5-10%. If your office is feeling too hot in the winter and too cold in the summer make sure you check your setpoints!

Air filters are one of the most important pieces in your central HVAC system, but one of the most forgotten. All the air in your home passes through your HVAC and through the air filter at one point or another which means if you don’t change your air filter regularly, air can’t pass through as easily and can ultimately cause HVAC system failure.
It’s best to change your air filter every 3- 6 months, every month or two if you have pets or live in a high-pollen area. Air filters are generally inexpensive, and changing your air filter is a simple task that doesn’t require a professional hand. Go check those air filters and remember, buy in bulk so that when the time comes you are ready!
WE'VE MOVED! In the season of the upcoming new year, we've packed everything up and moved into our new location on the corner of 20th & Queensway (in the old Yamaha building, which we have COMPLETELY renovated - you can check out the progress on our blog 😉). We are still doing a few things around the building, and will be opening the doors for the public in the new year. How exciting! 😍🛎️👏
In light of the pipeline explosion last month, we have put together a post to help you reduce your natural gas consumption while staying warm this winter ❄️ Take a look and let us know the ways you've reduced your use!
Reducing Your Natural Gas Consumption n early October a natural gas pipeline exploded and caught fire northeast of Prince George. Over the winter months, the pipeline will be running at 80% capacity. We all have to do our part in reducing our natural gas consumption, while staying warm this winter.
