Experienced skiers know that good tree skiing is important when the weather is stormy. Dezaiko Lodge in the Rockies has the best tree skiing to be found anywhere. Natural glades are abundant from treeline to valley bottom and drop 1,500 vertical feet. Dezaiko has added one additional week, 2 April – 7 April, to its winter season. As proud new owners of Dezaiko Lodge - we spent 6 weeks renovating...trying to add value, space and privacy while holding on to as much of Dezaiko past as we could. A glimpse into what we worked on...

Being backcountry lodge owners is pretty glamorous. Right?
You know, living in the mountains, skiing powder everyday and all that.
But when it comes time to move the sh***er. It ain’t so glamorous. Watch where you step!

Some good advice to help take care of the places we love

Spring is popping up everywhere.

Use these tips to this spring:
🌧 Check the weather forecast and bring rain gear - spring weather is fickle!
🥾 Muddy trails are vulnerable to erosion. Choose a dry trail to minimize impact. If you do find mud, hike through it instead of widening the trail.
🐿 Many animals have young or are migrating in the spring. Watch them from a distance to avoid stressing them.

Why is she so excited about this tree?
It is an endangered Whitebark Pine. Whitebarks are extremely rare in our local ranges and this is the largest one we have found around here.
Our contributions to 1% for the Planet go directly to Whitebark Pine research and re-establishment in northern BC.
