What is happening here? , I apologize for the teasing pics, but I’m so close to finishing this piece after hundreds of hours and excited to see it done. Stay tuned, and thank you for the support and kudos over the years.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted some work. The challenges and difficulty in this piece has overtaken the 200 hour mark and counting, and going to be worthwhile I think.

Having the opportunity to be one of the 2000 people from many countries, attending and helping with this symposium ( world’s largest wood turning event) has been both humbling and eye opening. The variety of skill and imagination shown here opens up worlds of opportunity and wonder. A few pics to give you a taste of what is a great annual event. Oh what a lucky man I am.

Three days of wood turning bliss. With presenter/demonstrator’s from New Zealand, Japan, Israel. And of course the US. Very informative. Seeing works I’ve only seen in books is a privelage along with Fabulous facilities here in Portland, it’s been great.

Now for something completely different. My son and I did a little local fossil hunting and came home with this lovely Ammonite (eupachydiscus)
Which I am attempting to prepare and remove some of the stone covering. Fascinating stuff. Fossils like this are from the Haslam formation on Vancouver island dating to around 50-60 million yrs.
