The next General Assembly will be held Tuesday, June 11 at 18h via Zoom. A link will be posted closer to the date. The goal of this General Assembly is to elect the executive committee for the 2024-2025 school year. All positions are up for election/re-election. Tickets are now on sale; join us for the 2024 SPEAQ on Campus!

For those who are unaware, the SPEAQ is a convention given annually in different cities around the province. The convention features talks about all ESL-related subjects, including classroom management, lesson plan ideas, literature and linguistic approaches, and much more. On Saturday, February 10th, we will be holding the SPEAQ on campus, a one-day version of the convention hosted directly at Laval University. This event counts towards the professional development section in your portfolio, so make sure to attend if you can!

It will start in the morning until the late afternoon, with a fun evening planned as well. Conferences, food, beverages, and prizes are all planned to make this day useful, and enjoyable for all!

If you want a chance to participate in this fun committee, make sure to be present! Furthermore, we will discuss SPEAQ on Campus, merch, and our plans for this semester.

The fun does not end there, however! The APEAL is organizing a bar night that same evening and you are invited! More details will be given in person.

CHRISTMAS MARKET🎁

L’alliance étudiante en développement durable de l’Université Laval and l’équipe DD are hosting an eco-friendly Christmas market and the APEAL will be present! Come stop by our table in the DKN atrium on Wednesday, December 6 between 10h and 17h to check out some handmade items that are perfect gifts for family, friends, or yourself! It’s also a great way to support your student association. Other activities will also be offered throughout the day by the organizers like Christmas carols and a gift-wrapping workshop!

Payments will be through e-transfer to the association. Check out the pictures to see a sneak peak of the items we’re offering.

MOVIE NIGHT!!🎥

The end of the semester is rapidly approaching and we know that it can be a stressful time. That is why we are inviting you to a cozy Christmas movie night on December 5th at 18h30! Come take a break from studying and unwind with your friends while watching Elf! You are welcome to come dressed in comfy clothes and bring a blanket or pillow.

The showing will take place at CSL-1630 which is in the Casault pavilion. Let us know if you have a hard time getting there.

BOWLING B-ALS!🎳
The APEAL has organized a totally tubular bowling night for you! It will take place on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 7pm to 9pm at Quillorama Frontenac.

The cost is 15$ and can be paid cash to any APEAL executive member or by e-transfer. Please DM us with your full name + how you wish to pay to reserve your place. We will then send you the e-transfer info if you wish to pay this way. Places are limited, so be quick!

Reminder that we cannot bring any outside food or drinks to this activity, but food & drinks will be available for purchase at the location.

SPEAQ COMMITTEE👥

SPEAQ on Campus is a student-organized event where presenters from the annual SPEAQ convention come to campus for a full day of presentations and workshops. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable knowledge about the world of ESL teaching as well as exchange with people in the community. Attending this event also counts for the professional development competency.
We are looking for people to form the organizing committee for this event. SPEAQ on Campus takes place during the winter semester; however, the committee must be formed before the SPEAQ convention in November.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY
A short general assembly will be held on October 17, 2023 at 6:30 pm in person. The room will be confirmed later this week. During this assembly, we will vote for the adoption of our new charter.
The charter needs to be approved so that the association can continue functioning.
You can find both the new charter and the previous charter on the APEAL website (https://apealasso.wixsite.com/apeal-ulaval/charter). You can consult these before the GA in order to be ready to vote.
