Holiday hours Cathedral Sports Massage
Tis the season at Cathedral Sports Massage!
With summer winding down and getting ready for back to school, have you made time to take care of yourself? After long weekends at the lake, all the yard work, camping trips and kids birthday parties, you should make some time for just you.
Book yourself a massage at one of our two locations. Booking is easy. You can go online to cathedralsportsmassage.com to find a location and time that works best for you!
You CANNOT fix your posture by just stretching alone. You need to strengthen the muscles in your back, neck and core to be able to hold yourself up right all day long.
Instead of focusing on holding perfect posture, focus on taking breaks and changing your position throughout the day to help reduce pain.
How are you sitting on your “sit bones”? If you feel the weight on the back of the bones chances are your back is too flexed. If your weight is too far forward your back may be too arched. Your weight should be well balanced over the ischial tuberosities “sit bones”.

Working in an office or at a desk, it can be hard to find the time to stretch. Here is one helpful stretch that you can do from the comfort of your chair.
More and more of us are working from a desk these days 🖥️👨💻. Stretching can help us decompress from sitting all day. Remember, before AND after work, take a minute and do some full-body stretches!
You read it here first, office workers that frequently visit a massage therapist are generally less stressed, more alert, and perform better overall!

Lower Back Pain... it gets to us all. But how can we help prevent it? There are many ways to prevent low back pain. Practicing prevention techniques may also help lessen the severity of your symptoms if you have a lower back injury.
Prevention involves:
- exercising the muscles in your abdomen and back
- losing weight if you’re overweight
- lifting items properly by bending at the knees and lifting with the legs
- maintaining proper posture
You may also want to:
- sleep on a firm surface
- sit on supportive chairs that are at the correct height
- avoid high-heeled shoes
- quit smoking if you smoke as ni****ne causes degeneration of spinal discs and also reduces blood flow
A regularly scheduled massage treatment is a very effective way to maintain good back health or help to ease any existing low back pain. One study found that people who got either structural massage (soft-tissue techniques to address problems with your muscles or skeleton) or relaxation massage (stroking, kneading, or circular motions to help you chill) saw improved symptoms after 10 weeks. They were able to get through their daily activities more easily and used less pain medication than those who just got regular care.
Being proactive instead of reactive is a very good habit to form! Especially when it comes to massage treatments and all self care as a whole!
As massage therapists, we teach and preach self care to our clients. Whether it’s stretching/strengthening work, taking breaks or getting a massage. We “fall off the wagon” just like everyone else. It’s best to be proactive and book regular massages, rather than being reactive and trying to book your massage short notice, run the risk of not being able to get one when you “need one”. We get beat up way more than you think. We use the same “excuses” as everyone else. We can be our own “worst patient”. All of us here at Cathedral Sports Massage do our best to be proactive and get massages, chiro, physio, etc as necessary in order to continue to provide our clients with the best massage treatments they deserve. 🤗
Walking is so good for our bodies and yes...very therapeutic for the mind also. Have a great weekend everyone!
This is Leah! Leah loves to walk and sees so many benefits in moving her body in this way. It is definitely a “go to” stress reliever for her, and she finds peace on the walking path. Needless to say, it’s very therapeutic for her. In the post you can see some other physical benefits of walking and why it is such a great way to move your body! 🚶
