We obtain the history and heritage stories of the buildings and attach them to the products going to market. We are looking for building owners that have abandoned buildings. Hi Bob!
I hope you’re doing well! Since you’ve made my shelves, I’ve had countless compliments on them, as well as a friend who wants a replica set for herself, I went ahead and sent her your contact info.

The Cowboy Bench
A few weeks ago we posted pictures of these two pieces of lumber that came from the McLean elevator with a challenge to see if anyone could guess what they were going to become. Here is the completed project, a 23' bench. Thank you Max for the opportunity to work on this project. Your wagon wheel idea was a great idea and added that finishing touch!
Whats It Gonna Be Contest? Get it right and you could win!
Yesterday, Sept 28, 2021 was a day at Country Acres Weddings & Events by McLean SK
Sunny, 32 degrees celcius and working with these two pieces of lumber that came from the McLean elevator when it was taken down. What a great mid fall day!
Max, the owner of Country Acres has asked Prairie Wood Design to create a specific item from these two lengths of wood. Her father obtained them when the elevator was coming down.
In starting in on the project yesterday the thought of having a little fun contest came, so here we go:
Do you know what these two pieces of wood are going to become?
The first person with the correct answer will win a utensil caddy that is pictured with the lengths of wood....And here is a bonus question - How long are they?
If you can get the bonus question along with getting the item correct one of the condiment caddies pictured with the untensil caddy is yours as well. Good luck!
And if you already haven"t, check out Country Acres Weddings FB page or website. Its its a great place to host a wedding or event.

This serving tray is made from the boards used from the flooring from the old house in the profile picture of our page. The back side of the wood is stamped by the company that supplied the wood from the west coast of BC. It was built sometime in the early 1930's going by the newspaper used for instillation in some of the walls. The owners of the house was James and Flo Smalls. Unfortunately I do not have very much detailed information on its history. It eventually became part of our family property. I do know it was abandoned in the 1960's. There are many memories of playing with siblings, friends and cousins in the abandoned house in the late Sixties and early Seventies.
