I use a blend of creative and existential therapeutic approaches, and integrate sensorimotor processing through bi-lateral drawing, mindfulness, self-compassion, and acceptance & commitment therapy. Draping is the process of positioning and pinning the fabric on a dress form. It is used to design organically by playing with the fabric on the form. The draping process is a creative technique which empowers us to be more creative and innovative. If we design and sew our own clothes we tap into a part of our identity that is creative, inspired and confident in who we are and how we want to show up in the world.

In art therapy we learn how to use creativity to become aware of and shift thoughts and emotional patterns and behaviours. The creative process offers the opportunity to assess where we are at in our lives, to explore values and patterns, and to make choices around preferred ways of being moving forward. These choices are supported by creating goals for both therapy as well as life outside therapy.

As an employment and career counsellor I spent over a decade supporting people to create, act on, and achieve educational and career/employment goals. As an art therapist I am excited by the potential of goal setting through artistic exploration. Goals give us a sense of direction and hold the future possibilities in a form that is contained and doable, leading from insight to action.
