Hey everyone 👋🏼 it’s me, Krysta! I have been a bit absent lately! I thought I would reintroduce myself and let you know what we are up to here at

I and the owner of Cairn Physiotherapy and I am currently living in my van full time. I believe in creating accessible resources and health information for as many people as possible! I have been dedicating a lot of my time to creating YouTube videos for this exact purpose. And I have also been putting together a course that I’m really excited to share with you soon!

I have set out on a goal to hike the entire length of Croatia. I am one week in! I am still busy with behind the scenes work while I hike. My wonderful teammate .catherine is still busy seeing clients! You can see her for all of your one-on-one physiotherapy needs.

I plan to keep you updated as I go along on this hike! So far I have already had a bit of a set back with a small injury I haven’t experienced before. I am on the mend though and hoping I can get back to hiking soon!

Introduce yourself in the comments below! I would love to know where you are currently located 🙂

Have you ever been on a week-long backcountry ski trip?

When my then boyfriend (he's my husband now) asked me to join him on a heli ski trip back in 2018, I jumped at the opportunity. I had never imagined I could take a helicopter into a backcountry ski lodge before.

To say I was nervous is an understatement.

I followed a few of his ski friend's on social media and quickly realized how much cooler they were than me. I knew I needed to make sure I was ready to ski for an entire week with some very good skiers.

I tried to get out for as many training trips as I could leading up to the week-long trip. I did a mixture of downhill skiing, backcountry skiing, and cross country skiing. I made sure I tested out my gear. I soon learned my ski boots weren't going to work for me, so I spent time sourcing ones that fit me well and made sure they were in good condition.

I also focussed on strengthening the areas of my body that I knew were important for skiing and helped prevent ski injuries. I did a lot of core strength, single leg balance and strength, and squats!

The ski trip was a great success! After the first 2 days I really started to get my ski legs and everything felt a little bit easier. There was another physiotherapist on the trip and we immediately bonded over our preference for strength training.

My body did great throughout the trip and my passion for helping others prepare for physical goals started to really take root.

DM me to find out how I can help you work towards your physical goal!

This is your Monday reminder to move your body.

We see a lot of pain and dysfunction in the human body from a LACK of movement. Because pain is an uncomfortable experience we usually try to avoid it.

This leads to the avoidance of movement for fear of pain. Avoiding movement can then lead to MORE pain. It can be an unfortunate cycle.

The sooner and more frequently you can move your body, the better. This might simply look like sitting on the edge of the bed for 5 minutes before lying back down again. Or, you might be able to get yourself out for a walk or onto your yoga mat each day.

🤍 Be gentle with yourself and be kind.
🤍 Celebrate the small wins and
the small movements.
🤍 Listen to your body if it's telling you to slow down, but also listen to your body when it's telling you to sp*ed up.

Physiotherapists are movement experts. If you aren't sure where to start, we can help! Visit link in bio to book a free Discovery Session with one of our physiotherapists.

What is our opinion on jolly jumpers, exersaucers, etc? This subject gets a lot of heat so we want to start off by saying there is no shame in needing to put your baby down so you can go cook dinner, take a shower or go p*e in peace! It's so valuable to have something to place baby in where you know they will be safe.

We want to educate, however, on the role that equipment has in promoting your child's physical development. Some folks may think exersaucers, jolly jumpers and seats help their baby progress their motor skills when the research finds the opposite is true. Supportive seats can be beneficial for kids who have reflux and need to be upright for a few minutes after feeding, however, it will not help them attain independent sitting.

Rather than feeling pressure to buy the hot new seat or jumper advertised on your Instagram feed, we recommend having a safe play pen area to put your child in when you have to step away. It's also better to wait until your child is cruising and then have them try a push walker! Letting kids wiggle, roll and move around the floor freely is what will really help their development.

If you have any more questions, reach out to us, we are here for you. 🙂

"Catherine has for many years helped with my pains, sprains and injuries and set me on a path to recovery. Her calm personality, precise analysis of the problem and describing a plan to recovery always put my worries and concerns to rest. Recently we have moved from rehab to prehab where we meet regularly to discuss my exercise routine. She recommends improvements in technique and new routines. I have felt terrific since starting prehab, my only regret is that I didn't start years ago."
