Disgusting Folks.
Get caught driving impaired? Should be first offense 1yr jail, 10 year driving ban and vehicle is gone. Not impounded but taken away and sold by authorities.
No more of this!
Three years ago today.
In your name Cindy we pray one day the Goverment will say, "Hey, let's do the right thing and make this Law"
You are missed, you are loved and you will never be forgotten.
Please share and let's hit 1000 signatures.
Can you spare a minute to help Tony Bendel? Extinguishers for Cindy
Excuse my language but when in the Hell is this s**t going to stop?
Our government needs to change the impaired driving laws NOW!
FATAL COLLISION UPDATE AS OF 10 P.M.: ONE CHILD KILLED, WOMAN HOSPITALIZED WITH POTENTIALLY LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES . . .
Just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, St. Thomas Police responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of Talbot Street and CASO Crossing.
A red pickup truck was travelling westbound on Talbot Street where the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck five pedestrians on the sidewalk.
St. Thomas Police confirm the collision resulted in the death of a child. An adult female has been transported to London Health Sciences Centre with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. The remaining three pedestrians were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the red pickup truck has been arrested for impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm and is being held in police custody.
Names will not be made public at this time out of respect for the families involved.
The intersection will remain closed as police continue their investigation.
Please let's flood Facebook with our cover page picture. Asking everyone to show support for Cindy by downloading this pic and make it your cover pic for one week. Help spead the word, show your support and let's never forget Cindy Devine. Saving lives is what it's all about.
Happy 38th Heavenly Birthday Cindy. We all love you, miss you and really hope you are watching over your loved ones. You maybe gone but you are never forgotten.
Did you know?
In Belgium, every vehicle is required to have an easily accessible fire extinguisher on board. Together with Greece, Poland and Turkey.
So why do we not here in Canada have this law? It saves lives. They are cheap and just think about your loved one being lost in such horrific manor.
COME ON CANADA!
If it drives on the road it should have a fire extinguisher in it.
Message your MPP today. Tell them to make this happen.
Your help is needed.
So everyone we finally got an email back from the office of the Minister of Transportation. After so many hours, emails, calls, letters, we were told by the Ministers office that they absolutely supported this campaign, said that if Ontario could be the leader of the country in making our roads safer then this is what we would love to do. Now we get this email and it just goes to show you what Governments are all about. Now this is where to make this happen, we really need everyone's help. Please email or call your local MPP & MP, even though this is a provincial legislation make in dam clear to all members of Government that Cindy's Law needs to be Canada Wide. This Deputy Minister could have saved his breath if he just looked at the campaign, saw the page and videos and saw that we already have talked about securing fire extinguishers, how to use them and the importance of them. I dont want to hear, read the "Oh I am so sorry for your loss" no your not. You don't give a s**t and if you do you would would be on the phone with me asking how we can do this. I am going to copy and paste the Deputy Minister's reply email to me...... We can do this if we all work together. Strength is in numbers and I can only do so much on my own. Please email, call your local MPP & MP and voice to them your support. Other countries in the world already have fire extinguishers in their cars...... Canada needs to get with the program and make our roads that much safer before another loved one looses their life in this manner. Also let the MPP's & MP's know that Impaired Driving laws need to change now!

to me
Dear Mr. Bendel:
Thank you for your letter. My deepest condolences on the loss of your friend Cindy. I appreciate your feedback regarding road safety and the opportunity to respond on behalf of the Minister of Transportation.
The Highway Traffic Act does not restrict storing a fire extinguisher in one’s vehicle if a person chooses to do so. Similar to winter tires, the choice is left to the consumer to choose if the product is appropriate for them and whether the benefits outweigh the costs.
It is important to note that the requirement to have fire extinguishers in personal vehicles would fall under the purview of the of the Office of the Fire Marshal who reports to the Ministry of the Solicitor General, as their usage is largely an emergency and fire prevention issue. This response will be shared with the Solicitor General’s office as well as the Fire Marshal’s Office for their consideration.
Although fire prevention does not fall under The Ministry of Transportation’s (MTO) purview, I will note that while fire extinguishers in vehicles do have safety benefits, loose objects can pose a significant risk to vehicle occupants during collisions. Fire extinguishers require a suitable location and apparatus to be properly secured within a vehicle. Not all passenger vehicles have the appropriate space for proper mounting of a fire extinguisher and, if placed in the trunk, extinguishers have limited accessibility. Moreover, compressed gases can pose an explosion risk if they are not properly secured.
Thank you for your efforts on this important topic. MTO continues to explore ways of improving road safety in Ontario. Please note that your recommendations will be kept on file as we regularly review our policies and programs as a part of the ministry’s commitment to improve safety.
Once again, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beloved friend Cindy.
Sincerely,
Doug Jones
Deputy Minister of Transportation
Now this to me sounds like the plain ole passing the buck. I have never heard of the Office of the Fire Marshall in charge of fire extinguishers in commercial vehicles. If so then why is the MTO incharge of checking for this and/or issuing fines if there isnt one? OPP also check for this so I am not really happy about the email but I will not give up and we wont give up. Please if you are in support of this campaign then please please contact your Government officials.
Good evening everyone.
We really hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and on behalf of Cindy's family & friends I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year. We wish for everyone that 2023 brings you great happiness and love.
I am truly honored to inform everyone that we have received another beautiful letter of support from the Fire Chief of St. Marys. I just cant get my head around these beautiful letters and I will copy and paste my email reply to the Chief. Thank you all for the support. I am still waiting to hear from Elgin Fire Extinguishers as to when the fire extinguishers we ordered at the beginning of Dec will be in. I was so hoping that we might have been able to do a Christmas Draw but like everything else in our world today, its hard to get certain items. I will post once we have some and we can do another draw. Thank you once again and below is my reply to the Fire Chief from St. Marys.
Chief Anderson.
I want to thank you for this awesome letter of support for Extinguishers for Cindy. You all in St. Marys have been so fantastic with your support for this campaign. As you may know Cindy was a dear friend of mine that I have know for about 15yrs and to learn of the way she died in that collision is just horrifying, but as you also know this happens way more often then we even realize. All the years I was in the media business I just wanted to do something to not only honor my friend but to save lives so no other family should ever get that news that their loved one(s) died in this manner. To be trapped and fully conscious of what was happening is just something that we can only imagine. The extreme horror and panic that Cindy went through and now the people that were there trying to help , live with this everyday.
Thank you once again for everything you are doing to help in this campaign and doing your own draws in St. Marys is what its all about. If you are planning another draw next year in St. Marys, please let me know because I would love to come and attend there with you all. I am so very very proud of everyone. Please keep telling all your colleagues about this campaign and spreading this to other departments, towns & counties. If you are talking to other fire chiefs and or Chief Fire Prevention Officers please ask them to join us by doing their own draws and also sending letters of support like the one you sent so we can keep the heat up in Toronto. I was so honored to be at Queens Park Dec 1st to hear the private members statement read in the house by London-Middlesex-Elgin MPP Rob Flack. I was invited to attend and with me that day I brought Cindy's husband Richard, Bob Reid and our dear friend Brad Gibb from London's Rock FM 96.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you and your fellow FireFighters a very Happy New Year.
Respectfully yours
Tony Bendel
Having trouble uploading a letter of support so I have had to delete a couple of posts. Will try to post in a few minutes when I can get facebook to play nice.
Good evening everyone.
So as we move forward we never could have gotten as far as we have if it wasn't for the amazing help, support and love we have had from so many people and organizations. From regular citizens to local businesses to service clubs to media and then, wow, our amazing fire departments, police and local MPP's & MP's is just truly amazing. A few weeks ago we were in attendance in Toronto at Queen's Park to hear London-Middlesex-Elgin MPP Rob Flack read his Members Statement to the house about Extinguishers For Cindy. "Cindy's Law" Was a very emotional time for us. So many hours have gone into this campaign and we have come a long way in a short time and I thank each and every one of you. What is also amazing is the letters of support that we have received for this campaign and I wanted to share them all with you. Each one of these letters have been sent to our local MPP and also to the Premier of Ontario, Minister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney and other cabinet ministers.
Please have a look at these amazing letters and don't stop calling, emailing your local MPP and/or the ministers in Toronto and let them all know that Cindy's Law must come to life. I will also copy and paste some email addresses for you.
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE TOGETHER!

Good morning everyone. Just received the following email from Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
Thank you for writing about mandating fire extinguishers inside vehicles. I appreciate the opportunity to read your comments and get a better understanding of your perspective.
The people of Ontario have put their trust in me to get the job done — I do not take that trust for granted. Our government will fulfill its promises and continue working for Ontarians every single day.
I've shared your email with the Honourable Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation, for her information.
Your input is important. It’s with your help and through this collaborative spirit we will build a brighter future for Ontario.
Thanks again for reaching out.
Doug Ford
Premier of Ontario

Here is the link to todays show and thank you so much Roy for everything you have done to help us get the campaign out and telling Cindy's story.
Dec 3: Tony Bendel, New Ontario Law Proposed: Extinguishers for Cindy. by Roy Green Show
We are getting reading to be on the Roy green Show. If you want to listen live you can do so online at https://globalnews.ca/radio/am980/
We should be going on around 4:30 so just waiting for their call. I will post the link to the show once it is up on their page. The Roy Green Show is braodcasted across Canada on the Corus Radio Network. If you have never listened to Roy's show, it is amazing. Roy has covered so many topics over the years and I find him so knowledgeable. I have been on his show a few times now over the years even dating back to over 20 years ago. It is always an honor to talk with Roy and we thank him so very very much for all the help he has given us in getting our campaign out and telling Cindy's story.
Tony
If you are looking for the best place to purchase a fire Extinguisher any Canadian Tire Store or hardware store has them BUT you want to make sure the auto bracket in with them. Many extinguishers only come with the bracket for hanging in the house. So make sure it is the one for automotive. We get ours at Elgin Fire Extinguishers. He is located on Elm Ln but here is their phone number in the pic. You are more then welcome to give him a call. 3A 40BC Fire Extinguisher is what you want.
Please note. Sadly we have had to delete and ban some certain people who came on this page and were extremely rude, ignorant and plain nasty. We will not allow nor condone such B.S. and anyone who leaves nasty comments or just wants to be a plain jane key board warrior.... you will be gone. No exceptions. There are many family and close friends of Cindy on this page and before posting anything on this page, just take a moment to think about how it will make them feel when they read your comment. So I give this warning now. Please be respectful and sincere. If not I will get rid of you from this page. there were some pretty hurtful things that were said and not just on this page but on CTV Londons page. Family read this people. Grow up and use your dang heads. If you cant then dont say anything.

Asking for all their help to make Cindy's Law.... just that.... Law.
Wrote an extensive letter on what happened to Cindy, the campaign, who I was and why we are doing this. Explained this past Thursday our local MPP Rob Flack read his Members Statement in the house and we want everyone on board and to get this in the hands of the Honarable Caroline Mulroney.
Another exciting day today. Live interview, Canada wide coming up at around 4:30pm on the Roy Green Show. Broadcast over the corus radio network.
How on earth do I use a fire extinguisher you ask? Well we have a short video here for you to learn. Also in this video it talks about how to approach a vehicle and about the dangers of the smoke. A lot of information in this video all brought to you by the St. Thomas & Malahide Fire Serivices. Please share the video to all your friends and loved ones.
