Heyoo! Online booking has been released for JUNE ☀️

Thus little item is actually a children’s toy which makes a great visual model when describing the concept of tensegrity.

Imagine the wooden bits as the bones of your skeletal system, and the elastic bands as your myofascail system. As tension is shifted in one plane of movement, changes are seen within all three planes throughout the entire system!

Spring is here, which brings the season for your therapist to take some time to rest, renew, and have an adventure with her family. I look forward to returning to practice later in April refreshed and ready to help you.

May has been released for online booking. Get em’ while you can!

March schedule is now released for online booking 🙌🏻

This hydrocolator tank is what stores the moist heat packs and she has been getting lots of use these chilly winter months!

These clay filled steam packs deliver deep penetrating heat to your tissues more effectively than electrical heat pads. I love them not only for keeping you warm and as a extra cozy/double duty neck support, but also for the following clinical benefits:

- increases blood flow
- decreasing pain
- preparing tissue for more effective mobilization
- calming the nervous system

Now you know what that little tank in the corner is for!

Happy New Year, and cheers to the February schedule now open for online booking! Hope to see you soon 🙋🏼‍♀️

January 2022 schedule is now released for online booking!

With the new year approaching, it is not unusual to see clinic schedules jam packed. This is usually influenced by people wanting to use up their benefit packages before the year ends. That being said, I am hopeful that the new year will bring a little more room for those who have found it difficult to find yourself a spot for regular appointments this fall.

Please advise that the new year will bring some slight changes to my fee schedule. These changes will be posted in the clinic space as well as email to patients on the current mailing list before being implemented January 1st 2022.

Today marks ONE YEAR since One Body has been open for business 🥳 and I am celebrating with some treats from that I have been meaning to try for some time.

A big thank you to everyone who has played a part in supporting my first year practicing in Salmon Arm. In one year I have completed 900 appointments and am currently fully booked until the new year! Work doesn’t really feel like work when you love what you do. I am so grateful for the “work” I get to do. Thank you all for trusting me with your health. It is an honour to help you participate in whatever “work” or play you love doing more comfortably!

The moment you’ve been waiting for: December schedule is now online!

Side note: I get questions all the time about what these funky tools are for. This is Graston Technique, a form of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. They are my secret weapon for getting after those sticky spots which typically need a lot of uncomfortable pressure to release. These stainless Graston instruments give me a mechanical advantage over using my hands, wielding faster results with less discomfort for the patient. The reason being, they are shaped for specificity, allowing me to target the tissue I need without having to press as hard!

So this was a nice email to receive on a Friday! I feel incredibly blessed to have been able to practice in this profession for 12 years coming up this Fall.

In college our instructors would repeat over and over that an RMT’s average career lasts a measly 5 years. Now, I’m not sure if that was really true, or just a tactic to scare us into maintaining our own biomechanics and health as practitioners. Anyhow, it stuck with me. So, now every time I get to celebrate another year as a massage therapist makes me feel very fortunate. I find this work very rewarding and can’t imagine doing anything else. I just love coming to work and helping you all feel better.

Maybe next time you visit me I’ll be sporting a new pin!

Winter (should be) coming...

So the shelves are stocked with HEAT Cryoderm topical pain relievers. Because sending out into the cold with a freezing neck is just cruel!

Have you every tried a body cushion? This support system is contoured to the expecting mom’s baby bump and has breast impressions to make laying on your front possible and comfortable in the later months of pregnancy. I cannot tell you how many women have asked me if they could take this home with them 😄

CRYODERM is one of my favourite tools in the pain management arsenal for multiple reasons....

❄️ it incorporates natural ingredients such as arnica (to reduce swelling), boswellia (for anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic actions), eucalyptus( for its warming properties and anti-bacterial nature), ilex ( to loosen joints and reduce swelling), menthol (to activate peripheral cold receptors), MSM (an essential healthy tissue found in joints), peppermint oil (for its anesthetic properties).
❄️it’s fast-acting, deep-penetrating cold sensation acts as a distractant from pain.
❄️lessnpain allows tour muscles to relax, diminishing the pain-tension cycle from continuing.
❄️application during treatment helps your benefits to last longer
❄️application at home/work empowers to you control your pain throughout the week.

⚪️SNOW SHOVELLING TIPS:

1. Warm-up: commonly, shovelling occurs after a period of inactivity, leaving people predisposed to strains. Try moving your back and upper limbs through 10 reps of full range of motion in each direction before removing all that that white stuff!

2. Switch Sides: By switching your lead arm from left to right (and visa versa) you disperse repetitive motions more evenly.

3. Wear appropriate gear: Supportive footwear with traction, or added grip aids help to greatly reduce your chances of slipping and/or falling.

3. Take Breaks: When engaging in new activity, our bodies have not developed the strength/power/endurance to match the required output. Listen to your body and take a coa coa break when it starts alarming you of fatigue.

‼️WARNING FOR SENIORS‼️
Every year, first responders are called to fatal deaths or people who have reached cardiac distress from shoveling the first snowfall. We are all ONE BODY, working together; ask for help and exchange some of your valuable, time-tested wisdom in return!
