Are you in pain? One of my mentors as a student taught me that often times pain within a certain area of the body is a result of weakness 🤔. It's pretty simple actually... if there is weakness in an area, the muscles in that area tighten up, if they tighten for long enough, they get painful and cause dysfunction. Therefore, if you get back pain, how strong is your back and your core which supports it? If you get neck pain... how strong is your neck ? Do you know how to properly strengthen the various painful areas of your body without making it worse ? I spend a lot of time with each patient teaching them how to treat themselves, because as a clinician I believe patients ought not to rely on me (or anyone) for health long term. This may not be possible in 100% of cases, but at the end of the day my goal is to help people create sustainable and lasting positive change in their health. I guess I figure that's what I would want if the roles were reversed. >>>> This movement is one of my favorites, "the Turkish get up". You could literally just do this a bunch of times for 15 minutes and that would be your workout! Haha. It requires core strength/stability, shoulder and hip strength and mobility, and overall balance. It's a great way to functionally train but also get a great full body work out 😉Just one of the movements taught by the many qualified coaches at LIFT. Strength & Conditioning !

First time 315lb in a while, but it went well today at LIFT. Strength & Conditioning with the help of coach ! 👊 I try to teach every patient that exercise is probably one of the most important things you can do for your body (combined with proper nutrition). There is no age too late to start, in fact I would argue that you should probably lift/train more frequently as you age. It has a hugely positive effect on pain levels, function, mobility, bone integrity and mental health. Weight loss is often just a by-product. That being said, know the difference between pain and discomfort. Movement shouldn't be painful, if it is, get it evaluated 😉👍
