I live in Martensville SK, offer contactless pick-up, and I can mail these across Canada.
That's it until I get time to work on some youth sized masks
65 origami and basic masks in large adult size are done and photographed. I am going to post them in 3 groups tonight, taking a break in between to get some other projects done :-)
45 masks are done, with about 15 more to finish tomorrow :-)
After the craziest spring ever, I should have new masks up here this weekend. I ran out of elastic and couldn't find any in Canada, but finally got some through customs. It's not quite the same as my previous elastic, but still thin, round, and very comfortable.
Yay! I could not find my previous lining fabric, but I did find a great alternative. This is also a 500 thread count, soft, pima cotton. I am very happy with it. I have everything cut out for 34 adult sized origami and 20 adult sized basic masks. I will get sewing them next week and post them on here when they are all done.
I would love to sew this weekend, but I have a socially distanced, outdoor 16th birthday to pull off :-). I also have to take care of myself a bit. I teach English online to children in China from 3:30-8am Monday to Friday, as well as Friday evening, and I have not gotten enough additional rest this week. I also breed reptiles and this is the heart of breeding season for our key reptiles, so after teaching, my animals take priority. I wear a lot of masks and totally love each one!
The outer layer of about 60 masks are all cut out, but I have run out of lining fabric and I have not been able to find any more of what I had been using. Not all cotton is created equal (more on that in another post) and I refuse to use anything less that 500 count high quality fabric for the lining. Most quilt shop quality cotton is about 120 threads per square inch and that is what I use for the outer layer, but I feel strongly that a much higher count is needed as lining to prevent more particulates from getting through. So, I'm back out hunting on Thursday. Just wanted you know what's taking me so long over here :-)
My new spring fabrics have arrived and I'm excited to get working on the new masks! First, I have promised new masks for my household (we misplaced a bunch in the move), then I will work on ones for sale. I will focus on adult origami and basic, but will also do some youth (adult small) in those patterns too. Stay tuned!
I'm super excited to update you on some happenings around here!
We moved from Saskatoon to Martensville in December and once I have unpacked a bit more, I will be back shipping masks! I can easily arrange for doorstep pick up in Martensville, or drop off days in Saskatoon a few times a month.
I'm thrilled to let you know that I have some new spring fabric on order from a favorite fabric store in Edmonton. They are busy with online orders, and shipping is taking a crazy amount of time these days, but I'll be sure to update when it gets here.
Stay safe.
More masks coming after supper ...
Many of you have been asking for winter and Christmas masks and I’m listening 🙂 I have lots going on outside of making masks, but I’m committed to getting about 50 adult and youth sized origami masks out soon! These will likely be the last masks until the new year, so keep an eye on this page ... I’m sure they will go quickly. Stay safe.
