Some Before/After pics of our most recent pigeon cleanup & exclusion job that was completed in downtown Saskatoon! The white pucks seen on the metal railings are called (OptiCa) which is a multi-sensory bird deterrent using sight, smell and touch to make the area undesirable. The dishes look extremely detrimental to their safety and give the appearance to the bird that there is a fire or smoke. Through smell, it uses a citronella and peppermint smell which birds do not like. The last sense is touch. In the event that the bird does touch the OptiCa disc, it is sticky and unpleasant. Call or email us today 🐦

Knowing that you have a cockroach or insect problem in your home is stressful enough, but the preperation that is necessary prior to treatment can make it even tougher which we understand.

These pictures are a great example of what a perfect prep job looks like before completing our treatment for cockroaches. It not only makes our job a lot easier but also benefits the tenant by letting us treat every square inch possible throughout the home/unit.

Got ticks? These pictures are from a tick job we completed last weekend in Blackstrap resort.

•The most common ticks found in Saskatchewan, like the American Dog tick, Rocky Mountain ticks and Winter ticks, do not carry Lyme disease.

•They range in size from a poppy seed to the size of a grape, when fully engorged from feeding on blood. The bad news is that these ticks do carry other diseases.

•One such Lyme-carrying tick known as the Black Legged tick is very rarely seen in Saskatchewan; however, they have been found here and there have been some reported cases of Lyme disease in the province.

•Ticks do not leap or fly, as commonly believed. They move by crawling and running. One of the most popular spots to find ticks is in the tall grass and brush. Ticks can smell people approaching as they walk through the tall grass. Ticks will release their hold on the grass and grab onto the host.  Part of the reason people seem to be on their radar is that on warm days when walking or hiking, people are hot, sweaty and exhaling plenty of carbon dioxide. Once the tick has grabbed onto the host, it searches for the best place to attach and bites the host.

If there is any good news here, its that it takes between 10 minutes and two hours for the tick to attach itself.  Disease transmission occurs six to eight hours but often, it is about 24 hours.

The best advice to avoid ticks is to stay away from tall grass and shrubs.

Gross post alert 🪳😷 In this video you can see an adult roach feeding on the (Max-Force) gel-bait that we dispersed in the kitchen cabinets. This method is easily one of the most important steps in eliminating a roach infestation for good.

•It is vital to gel-bait every corner of every single cabinet including the cabinet hinges as seen here. Be sure to never spray any areas that have been gel-baited as this will cause cross contamination to the gel-bait deeming it ineffective.

Photos from YXE Exterminators's post 05/11/2021

Gel baits are an integral tool used to successfully eliminate any cockroach, ant or termite infestation. We use the industries most trusted & proven gel baits so the job is done right. Here is some more info about gel baiting:

Gel bait formulations are insecticide products that are formed when the active ingredient is mixed with food or an attractant carrier. When the insects eat the bait, they also consume the active ingredient. Aside from gels, baits may also take the form of granules (such as 'Niban' seen in the second slide), flowable powders (Avert), liquids or solids.

Most active ingredients used in gel baits are slow-acting so that the insects are not affected immediately by the poison of the active ingredient right away, allowing the insect to carry the bait back to others in the colony or the nest to start what is called the “domino effect”. This domino results in the total annihilation of the infestation one by one via transfer of the gel bait.

Benefits of using Gel Baits: Gel baits are very safe to use because often they are applied in hidden areas like cracks and crevices which minimizes human and pet exposure. It can be easily placed where insects shelter for maximum effectiveness. Low human toxicity and it lasts for a long period of time, if an insect hasn’t gotten to the bait, when one eventually does come in contact and consume the bait, it will still be lethal to them. They only need to be placed where they are needed and can be removed after control has been achieved.
