This post is not easy to make but I hope everyone considers it from a self employed small business point of view.
I care deeply for each and everyone of my clients and that is why charging a cancellation fee is so difficult for me, but I have to remind myself it is my livelihood and though I LOVE my job I don’t just do it for fun, I do it like each and everyone of you, to be paid!
I have always been EXTREMELY understanding of cancellations and even last minute cancellations especially when it was because of something difficult in my clients life, I feel for you/them and I get it! The thing is after the emotions are gone I am left unpaid… it may not seem like a big deal to some but consider it this way you show up to work, ready to work and are told you are not needed and to go home and you WILL NOT be getting paid, you say but I’m here and wanna work and need the money, they say ya sorry, we understand this isn’t fair but see yea later on.. I feel as a business owner, service provider and just as a human I am very understanding but ultimately that understanding has left me financially altered and that isn’t SUSTAINABLE. Over the month of August I have had 13 cancellations.. 13!!
Please consider that, you may just think oh I am one and I can’t make it, she will be fine.. but that isn’t fair and isn’t often the case. Last week alone, in ONE DAY I had three appointments cancel, which made up my entire day except for a mid day 20 min brow wax (all under 24 hours even!)
That was a devastating day to say the least!! It also isn’t just the cancellation it is the rescheduling then, I OFTEN will be as flexible as possible because I am trying to accommodate and be helpful to my clients to get them back in.. I have probably over shared here but I needed to be open about what is effecting my business. I understand life happens and that isn’t what this is about, I get it life happens and we cannot control everything and things come up. It’s how we go about it that matters to everyone involved.

As a mentor said it best “when a client cancels for ANY reason that is disappointing for them to miss the appointment but it is detrimental to a self employed business.”

Microneedling is a collagen induction
therapy.
