Circle Drive Special Care Home

It was Western Day yesterday in recreation. We had a game of Horse Races in the morning and played some western games in the afternoon. The residents had so much fun, smiles all around, cheering each other on and lots of laughs! Yee Haw!

June has come and gone and we are excited for JULY!

THANK YOU to everyone who helped support the Basket Raffle and Bake Sale. It was a huge success - we raised over $2200 for the Resident Council. A big shout out and thanks to Stonebridge COBS Bread for their generous donation.

Summer is almost here! Here is what we have going on in recreation in June.

We have made a few changes to our calendar since we missed out half of the month due to the outbreak. Here's what is going on in recreation during the last week of May!

Our wonderful resident Gunter got some cakes for the staff to show his appreciation and to celebrate his birthday earlier this month. Thank you and happy birthday Gunter!

Yesterday’s bus trip to the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum had us flying high with fun. This summer they have a bbq every Friday from 11-1 pm and recommend you check it out!

Family and friends: Mark your calendars for our Bake Sale fundraiser coming up in June. Please consider helping out by either donating baked goods and crafts OR stopping by June 20th to purchase some goodies. All proceeds go to the Resident Council. We were unable to celebrate nursing week until now. Just a huge shout out to all the wonderful Nursing staff we have here at CDSCH.

This morning, Public Health officials have advised us that:
THE OUTBREAK HAS BEEN DECLARED OVER!

Family Presence guidelines return to Green: Open Family Presence
• Family and visitors are welcome according to the preferences of the resident.
• No limits on the number of family and visitors per resident.
• The number of visitors is limited only by appropriate and available space.
Group gatherings should be scheduled in advance.

Residents are encouraged to attend group Recreational activities, meals will resume in the Dining Room, and the Hair Salon is again in operation.

Staff and visitors are no longer required to wear medical grade masks in the building.

Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you for your patience as we all endure the ongoing outbreak, declared at Circle
Drive Special Care Home on April 18, 2024. Roughly half of our residents have dealt with
symptoms such as nasal congestion, sore throat, and cough. As per normal practice the
resident’s primary contact is advised of significant changes in health status. We continue
to experience new onset of symptoms; therefore precautions and yellow family
presence remain in place.
The silver lining on this cloud is that Infection Prevention and Control have advised of the
following permitted activities for non-symptomatic residents:
 Outdoor visits with no limit on participants and no masking requirements
 Leave/outings (except to other care homes/places with vulnerable people)
The following precautions remain in place to reduce and prevent further illness:
 All residents are encouraged to stay in their rooms as much as possible.
 Residents are being assessed for symptoms and tested as appropriate.
 Meals are being served on trays (at risk residents eat in the Dining Room).
 Group Activities have been suspended; Recreation staff will interact with
residents on a 1-to-1 basis.
 Visiting hours are in place (0800-2000hrs) with the following restrictions:
o Visitors must sanitize hands and wear a mask (provided at entrance).
o Visitor’s masks must remain in place while in the building – visitors should
keep mouth and nose covered with a mask while visiting.
o Make a direct entry and exit, common areas are for residents only.
o Please limit indoor visits to 2 people at a time; no limits on the number of
visitors outside (Family Presence: Yellow).
 Residents on isolation are required to remain in their rooms; visitors should wear
appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as per signage at the room entrance.
 Hair Salon services continue to be suspended.
