an easy way to help the arts right now! Send a letter telling your representative that they need to support the arts.
As we look forward to celebrating our craft on March 27, SATP is delighted to be partnering with the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) and theatre service organizations across the country in using this day to invite audiences back into our performing spaces.
Here are three ways you and your theatre colleagues, friends, and parsons can show your support in the lead-up to World Theatre Day:
1. Book a ticket to go see a show and post about it using . Not sure where to start? Take a look at our most recent edition of Performing Now! https://preview.mailerlite.io/preview/700564/sites/105489880628331905/performingnowsignup
2. Use the link below to contact your local elected officials, and let them know theatre is important to you, and you support increased public funding. It is quick, easy, and you only need your postal code.
3. Encourage others by sharing a favourite theatre experience on social media using the hashtags and .
In the wake of a devastating pandemic and the slow return of audiences, it’s easier than ever for us to become inwardly focused; but theatre has always had community at its heart, and it is now more important than ever that we stand loud and proud as makers, practitioners, educators, managers, leaders, and lovers of this art form, and encourage everyone in our circles to make theatre a part of their lives again – or to explore it for the first time.

This is sad news for the arts. We are loosing skilled artists everyday due to this and lack of community support. The arts make our lives better daily! We need artists in our communities. Please take a moment to message the government, and another moment to buy tickets, send a donation or share an artists work with your family and followers. The arts need you, now more than ever. If we want local art, we have to support it.
In case you missed it, the SK provincial government announced status quo funding for the Arts sector in their 2024-25 budget.
"A status quo budget for a sector in crisis is, simply, not good enough. Funding to SK Arts is flatlined and well below historical levels – approximately $383,000 less than a decade ago."
With the arts in Saskatchewan still being negatively affected by the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, massive inflation and the continued collection of the PST expansion on admissions, entertainment and recreation, the SAA is disappointed with yet another year of status quo funding to the provincial arts sector.
