We are excited to kick off our 2024 road construction season by sharing photos of our hardworking crews. Currently, our Base crew is working on Highway 7 in Kindersley, while our Paving/Plant crew is operating on Highway 21 in Maidstone. Our Lab crew is testing our paving and crushing projects with field Labs set up at the jobsites. Our Coldmix crew is mixing piles province-wide, while our Truckers are hauling asphalt, millings, and transporting equipment. Finally, our Shops/Office teams are ensuring seamless and efficient operations with their behind-the-scenes efforts.

HJR is thrilled to announce the return of our dedicated employees for the 2024 season. Preparations have been underway during the winter months through training programs. We wish everyone a successful season!
We are pleased to share that H.J.R. Asphalt, on behalf of the VINCI Canada Fund, has made a significant contribution of $15,000 to the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre (SFBLC) located in Saskatoon, SK. This generous donation will help support the Nutrition Program, an initiative that brings nutritious meals and vital education into the community.
In the past year, this impactful program facilitated 76 online cooking classes and distributed 721 ingredient kits, providing 7,924 healthy meals served across Saskatoon and its surrounding regions.
H.J.R. Asphalt is grateful to be a part of this dynamic program, helping to support the nutritional needs of our fellow community members.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Transport Manager and site Project Manager/Foreman, the 1A Truck Driver will be responsible for loading, hauling, and dumping of asphalt materials and heavy equipment to a variety of locations across Saskatchewan. We are looking for an experienced truck driver who can take initiative, work independently, and has strong communication skills. Our ideal candidate has experience using their 1A license and is comfortable backing up semi tractor-trailer units in tight spaces. This position follows a 10 and 4 schedule, and requires regular overtime and travel.
Qualifications:
1A Driver’s License
Have a clean driver’s abstract
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong communication skills
Comfortable backing up semi tractor-trailer units in tight spaces
Willingness to travel and overnight
Duties and Responsibilities:
Hauling hot asphalt, aggregate, and/or heavy equipment
Perform regular truck/worksite inspections and perform general maintenance
Assist with setting up and tearing down Asphalt Plants
Participate in regular safety meetings and engage with the company safety culture
Perform general labor activities as needed
Compensation and Benefits:

$45/day meal reimbursement
Safety Recognition Program (up to $80/month)
After 3 months
o $350.00 steel toed boot reimbursement every 24 months

-Travel to a variety of worksite locations across Saskatchewan 2-3 days per week
-Perform worksite safety audits, assessments, investigations, and inspections, and follow up
-Communicate regularly with workers, supervisors and management regarding safety concerns
-Make safety recommendations and advise and consult with management
-Maintain, update, create safety procedures, practices and policies
-Track and maintain employee safety records
-Conduct safety meetings and tool box talks from time to time
-Coordinate & facilitate safety training with staff
-Track and report all incidents and near misses regularly
-Maintain company safety incentive program
-Perform basic administrative duties
