The Saskatchewan Association for Community Living (SACL)’s Board of Directors is recruiting youth to sit in an advisory capacity on the SACL’s Board of Directors.
Being an Ambassador will help you unlock your potential as a young leader and gain valuable tools most people your age do not have access to! Great opportunities and experiences for youth ages 15-18 to be part of the SACL Youth Ambassador initiative.
Where:
One ambassador will be selected from the province of Saskatchewan.
Who:
Youth ages 15 – 18 years old
Who want to make a difference
Who are interested in connecting their community to the larger provincial community
Who are acting in everyday ways to effect change for individuals that the SACL supports
Selection Criteria:
Community involvement
Reason for becoming a Youth Ambassador
Two completed Reference Letters. A reference person can be a teacher, a coach, a person of authority, or other adult outside of your family who knows you well.
Essay questions:
Why do you think it’s important to be involved with your community? (Think about how your involvement benefits yourself, others, and your community.)
Describe three (3) things you have done in your life that you are proud of, and explain why you are proud of these accomplishments.
Why do you want to be a SACL Youth Ambassador?

An Autism Stakeholder Working Group has been brought together by the Government of Saskatchewan to explore a new model for individualized funding. The working group is now seeking feedback from parents/caregivers of children with ASD, as well as service providers.

Conference Description:
Mental Health for All: Therapeutic Interventions for Individuals with Dual Diagnoses (Intellectual Disabilities and Mental Health Disorders) will alleviate the inequity that exists today for people with intellectual disabilities to access mental health services. This training opportunity for a broad spectrum of mental health providers will improve access for this population moving forward. Currently, mental health services are virtually inaccessible to people with a dual diagnosis of intellectual disability and mental health problem.
Mental Health for All: Therapeutic Interventions for Adults with ID and MH This high quality training will provide strategies and methods to enhance skills when treating people with ID and Mental Health

Please join the Saskatchewan Association for Community Living for a two-day workshop on Person-Centred Thinking. Presented by Helen Sanderson Associates Canada, the workshop will cover a number of topics that will help you bring person-centred thinking into every aspect of your work and daily life.
Workshops will be held on January 25th & 26th from 9:00am - 4:30pm
Cost is $150 per person and includes materials/lunch for both days.

The University of Regina Faculty of Nursing is looking for volunteers for a study of experiences of parents of children living with disabilities.
If you are a parent of a child living with a disability (physical, intellectual, developmental, or medical), you are invited to 2 or 3 confidential interviews (1-2 hours each) and to complete a questionnaire. In appreciation for your time, you will receive a gift of $50 after each interview and any parking and childcare expenses will be reimbursed. See the attached poster for more information.
The SACL is looking for an Education Specialist.
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives, the Education Specialist will plan and facilitate meetings with stakeholders across the province to identify strengths and challenges in the education system. They will prepare reports with recommendations for future strategies. In addition, they will act as a support and resource person for individuals and families.
