and Diploma programs in Fashion Designing. Through a diverse program,
Academy of Fashion Design offers classes in all areas of the industry including
Pattern Making, Garment Construction, Draping, Industrial Production, Textiles, History, Fashion
Communication, Business, Marketing and Self Promotion.
CULTURAL SEWING PROGRAM
4 month course
This program is developed to help students learn about traditional clothing of Indigenous people, including construction and history. After completing the Cultural Program you may continue on to the Certificate Program

The drape of this garment is pleasing on the body and is easy to mix and match!

Deb Beaudry will also be showing her work at the Open House next week.
Deb's use of color and and applique work is showcased in these shirts. She is also part of Cultural Sewing program and is always pushing herself to include more color and decorative materials to her base work.

Rita Wagar is another student showing their work at the Open House next week.
Rita's teal Ribbon Shirt is her latest creation as part of the Cultural Sewing program. Rita's use of patterns and willingness to use patterns is exemplified in her work.
Chantal Runningaround will also be showcasing her own work at the upcoming Open House at the Academy.
Chantal has been taking the Cultural Sewing program and is currently finishing her projects. We encourage our students to learn from their elders the teachings of different garments and the techniques their people would use.
One of the students at our upcoming Open House is Louise Fraiser.
Louise is one of our Cultural Sewing program student's and takes time in her craft. This blue Ribbon Shirt features a lengthened yoke with matching cuffs.

We welcome you to the Academy of Fashion Design to view the creative talents our students have achieved. Come and support local up-and-coming designers who will be selling their custom creations*, or, taking orders**.

8 month course
This program prepares future designers to adapt to the changing nature of the fashion industry. Students in the certificate course learn foundational knowledge that opens up design possibilities.
After completing the Certificate Program you may continue on to the Diploma Program, where students learn advanced techniques to take their designs to the next level.
