For any small business owner, it can be hard to take time away from the grind that is entrepreneurship. Personally, this is a weakness that I recognize and need to work on, and this weekend I tried to do that with a trip that has been talked about for years.

I have previously shared a glimpse of how sports have played a significant role in my life, including some of my most cherished childhood memories. However, no sport has had a more significant impact than baseball. From chasing foul balls as a toddler at my dad’s games to him teaching my brother and I the sport he loves on a pasture turned homemade field.

This weekend, my brother and I took my dad to his first-ever major league game down in Minneapolis as a gift for his 70th birthday earlier this year. We have shared many great memories at the ballpark as players and coaches, and we have now added one as fans. There is no doubt this will become a core memory and serve as a simple reminder to make time for the trips or experiences that have been talked about for years.

In case you missed it, we teamed up with again this year to offer limited edition hats at Ag in Motion with 100% of proceeds directly supporting

In total, this collaboration raised $7,000 which was presented to some of the talented STARS staff this week! Thank you to everyone who supported this initiative. We are grateful for the service STARS provides throughout the prairies as an essential lifeline!

Our popular collaboration with ALPINE Liquid Fertilizers and STARS will be back at this year!

These NEW limited edition hats will again directly support STARS Ambulance. With a donation of $25 or more, you will receive the hat shown while 100% of the proceeds will be contributed.

For anyone not familiar with STARS, they are a helicopter air ambulance which provides a lifeline for patients in rural and remote communities across Western Canada.

Important to note, these hats will again exclusively be available at the Alpine ( #430) & Prairie Proud (SB3) booths at this year’s taking place - July 16th to 18th, 2024. At our booth payment can be made via cash, credit, or debit.

When I started this business nearly a decade ago, I did not realize the impact our customers would have on me personally. There can be dark days as an entrepreneur and when I am seeking motivation I commonly think about the special relationships which have been built with customers and their families. Today, I want to share one of these examples.

The Davids’ have been supporting our business since 2018 after first discovering us online. What started as items for mom & dad has now grown into items for the whole family including their newest addition. I personally got to meet the Davids’ at our storefront last year while they were on a family vacation. These interactions are always special as you get to know customers on a personal level. Recently, the Davids’ took the time to wish our team a Happy New Year and share these family photos. It is hard to put into words the feeling when we receive photos like this… not only do they represent priceless moments for a family but also in my entrepreneurial journey. I am truly grateful for these relationships and I know I am not the only small business owner who feels this way.

Coming home for the holidays is special for many reasons but these grain bins hold a core memory. My first job was cleaning these bins (along with many others) for my Uncle. No matter how many years go by they always bring back memories of a beginning.
