My precious boy Sterling was put to rest yesterday.
His funny, loving and adventurous spirit were felt by all who knew or met him. He always lived fully and enjoyed every moment. He taught me so much about celebrating life on a daily basis, without expectations.
He was an integral part of my business life too, appearing in many social media posts and always being by my side, squeaking a toy (so I’d hang up the phone) on a business call. He made sure I had a balance between days spent at work and time spent having fun with him.
Although my heart truly hurts over this loss, I am so glad that he came into my life.
Run free my boy. You will always be so very loved. 🤍

I took a break from paperwork to make this new pumpkin, chocolate chip oatmeal cookie recipe (deeelicious by the way) and as I was mixing the dough, I was thinking about how baking cookies is a lot like people’s expectations of counselling.
-We want to know the exact recipe to feel better.
-We want to know (and I quote), “how long it’s going to take?
-We want to be sure that the investment of our effort and time reaps something “good” at the end.
The thing is, we forget that we don’t necessarily perfect the “recipe” the first time. Sometimes we need to make adjustments to the ingredients, look at other options, much as we do our feelings/personal perspectives when we start to explore them in counselling.
Although there may be a recommended time for the recipe, you may find you need to add or reduce the cooking time. Counselling can be the same, depending on what you need and where you are at.
Everything worthwhile takes time. It takes effort. It requires revisions. So do we!
Do you get something good in the end from counselling? You bet you do. A new awareness, a new approach to your life, an improved mindset, better relationships and the list goes on.
Much like this cookie recipe that I tried today, counselling can bring you comfort during the stormy days that life presents. It can help you to find the “good” again.
We are accepting new clients this fall and we look forward to hearing from you (see link in bio). We might even share this cookie recipe with you! 🍪
All my best,
Kerri
The feeling of calm and peace that the lake evokes for me has always drawn me towards it. I’ve lived on the lake for ten years. A privilege , I realize and an experience I’ve never taken for granted.
Sometimes life calls us in a different direction or our wants and wishes contribute to this. We’re required at times to give up things that have brought us moments of tranquility and joy in order to create and evolve into something more. And that’s o.k.
I’ve made some very intentional changes to my life and my living situation recently. It’s different, it’s refreshing and sometimes it’s more stressful than my peaceful life on the lake. I’m not sorry though. It was a change that needed to happen in order for other opportunities to become possible.
If you’re feeling stuck or guilty for not being happy with what you have or “grateful” enough ( I swear sometimes that word causes us to stay for far too long in phases of our lives bc we think we shouldn’t want something more or should just be thankful for what we have), know that many of us are feeling exactly the same.
We can give ourselves permission to allow some truths to elicit needed changes and when they do, we can:
-create a new version of what peaceful means to us .
-make changes to our lives that are empowering and offer more alignment with who we are becoming.
-accept that where you are going may be completely different than where you’ve been.
-let go of responsibilities that aren’t ours and may have kept us under an illusion of being “stuck” or tethered to others and circumstances.
-remember that what we think we are “in control” of and what’s controlling us are probably the same thing, rooted in a fear of the unknown vs. a need to actually control.
Today I took myself for lunch and no, I didn’t have this whole epiphany all while enjoying some Mexican food (Although it was pretty good).
And yes… this fantastic song was playing in the restaurant as I reflected on this and took some time to write (which has been long overdue). Flash back to the 80’s with a reminder that “things will be o.k.”
We are accepting new clients and we are here for you with this (see link in bio).
All my best!
Kerri

I’ve been going through some of my things this summer to organize and I came across not one , but TWO Vegan cookbooks.
Am I a vegan you might ask? No, but some of the recipes look delicious and I tend to enjoy vegetables more than a steak any day of the week.
It got me thinking about how often we start off with the best of intentions for a new exercise routine, a shift in our meal planning or diet or even plans to start counselling and improve our mental health.
For so many unintended reasons (I.e life stressors, fear of failure, limited time), those intentions get shelved much like my two Vegan cookbooks and we stay where we are, not completely satisfied and not able to do what’s needed to make the shift for ourselves and our lives.
With that comes a lot of emotion: shame, self-judgement and blame, fear of the unknown and embarrassment.
Yes, all of this emerged when I looked at these two brand new cookbooks, never used, never experienced, yet obviously contemplated as an option for my future.
So today, without the self-judgment or ridicule for what wasn’t attempted or what changes weren’t made, I’m going to choose one recipe and just try it. I may like it, I may not, but hey, at least I gave it a chance and stepped out of my day to day.
It may seem insignificant, yet a small change can start us on a whole new path of health, vitality and inspiration!
What’s one thing that you can try or circle back to that would positively influence how you feel emotionally and within your body?
Maybe you’ve been meaning to start counselling for awhile. Summer is actually a great time to give it a try because our lives aren’t usually at full tilt in this season.
We are accepting new clients during the summer and I welcome your call!
In the meantime, I have a recipe to try. I’ll let you know how it turns out on one of my upcoming stories.
Stay bright, and live in wellness.

Happiest of birthdays to this fantastic mom and Baba today! We celebrated with some sun and laughs on the porch. 🥳
It’s always good to get tasks done and to go into the weekend feeling accomplished with the “to-do” list from the previous week.
I spent some time on a working lunch .ssm doing just that today. It was a deliciously productive experience!
Sometimes the list of things that we set out to do in a given day or week is far greater for ourselves than what we would ever expect of anyone else. That’s where we can make some adjustments to our expectations of ourselves. When we do so, we can reduce the stressful feeling of needing to always do more and be more.
Give yourself credit where credit is due for the past week and practice self-compassion for the things that you didn’t check off on that list this week.
They’ll still be there to tackle next week….
Most importantly, enjoy your weekend and make time for the things that make you smile! 😃
Love is always around us. It might be found in a smile from a passerby, a warm hug from a friend, a call with your parent or child, in a fond memory or in a partner you never thought you would meet.
It doesn’t always show up exactly as we expect it to or on our timeline. Sometimes it’s just a feeling that radiates through us when we start accepting ourselves fully and with love.
So for today and always….
*Live with an open heart.
*Stay sweet.
*Remember to give love back generously.
And know that love is always there when you need it.
Happy Valentine’s Day💕
I read this quote that said we should make time at least once a week to meet with a friend and chat about what inspires us, what we want to do next and how we plan on reaching those goals.
Today we made space for that conversation and I’m so happy we did.
I’m walking away feeling energized, inviting in the opportunities that will create the path, the expansion and the experience for those new ideas to become a reality.
Part of owning our future and what we want for ourselves is making time to build the foundation for it (the baby steps) in the present moment. If you aren’t clear on what you want, it’s hard to envision the next step.
Are you clear on what you want?
How you feel about it?
We are here for you with all of this and we are accepting new clients.
Make time to connect, converse and keep those dreams a vital part of your day! ⭐️

We talk a lot about the “stereotypes” that circulate around going to therapy and what people imagine a session to be. It can keep someone from trying therapy for the first time or keep them skeptical about its effectiveness. Some think it's only for rich people, and that's not the case. It can be affordable. EAP and Insurance covers quite a bit of the cost at times, too.
People have some preconceived notions based on how it’s depicted in movies (i.e. the couch that no client ever lays down on btw) and on social media.
This IS a great example of what therapy IS NOT! :)
Or if it has been like this for you, know that not all therapists are the same (we aren’t secretly drawing pictures of cats while you talk to us..or at least we shouldn't be.. lol).
This did make me laugh, I will say that!
