Sitting at a desk all day puts extra strain on your neck, shoulders, and back. Plus, it forces you to sit in an unnatural position for long stretches.
The downward dog stretch is a great way to work several body parts to counter some of those effects.
• Relieve neck, shoulder & back pain
• Lengthen hamstring & calf muscles
• Build strength in your shoulders, arms & core
• Align your spine and reduce strain on your vertebrae
• Improve strength in the muscles of your hands & feet
Not only does this stretch reduce pain throughout your body, it increases strength, mobility, and flexibility, which can help you with everyday activities. Plus, improved strength reduces injury risk!
To perform the exercise, start on your hands and knees. Lift your knees off the floor as you bring your hips back and toward the ceiling. Keep your arms straight while stretching your chest toward your feet and bring your head between your arms. Now that you’re in the position, relax into it by taking a few breaths. Bend your knees and slowly return to the starting position. Repeat several times as needed and as comfortable.
Thanks for the kind words, Renee! We're glad you had a positive experience at Dynamic Physiotherapy and Wellness.
Exercising in the morning may lower blood pressure, improve sleep, and increase weight loss. Research also suggests that people who exercise in the morning tend to exercise more consistently.
Did you know that our bodies typically can’t handle sitting at a desk for more than 20 minutes at a time?
If you have a desk job, be sure to change positions frequently, including standing up, stretching, or even going for a short walk.

We all know that we need to do more to increase our activity levels. But getting a gym membership, setting aside an hour each day to get there, and trying to create a workout program seems daunting and discouraging.
The good news is that getting more exercise doesn’t have to be complicated. Even walking more can make a difference.
Normal posture seen from the front has no head tilt yet level shoulders, hips, and knees. From the side, an imaginary line can be drawn straight through the centres of the ear, shoulder, hip, and knee, ending just in front of the ankle.
The relentless pull of gravity, combined with work and play habits, means poor posture doesn’t self-correct. And without intervention, this can lead to various health issues, including
• Chronic muscle tension
• Loss of movement
• Fatigue
• Degenerative joint disease
• Heart and lung difficulties
The next time you visit your chiropractor, ask them to assess your posture.
Thank you, Susan, for your kind words!!
Chiropractic treatment relieves lower back pain using effective clinical tools, such as soft tissue therapy, exercise, modalities, patient education, manipulation, mobilization & rehabilitation.

Don’t worry about hitting 10,000 steps right away.
No matter, how active you are now, your goal should be to add the number of steps equivalent to walking for 30 minutes, which will be 2,000–4,000 steps, depending on your walking speed. That’s 1–2 miles of walking.
This week’s Team Tuesday spotlight is Bira Baradas, one of our physiotherapists.

Remember, poor posture can lead to neck pain and back pain.
Devices like phones and laptops make it easy for us to do work from more places, but they also encourage us to sit in unnatural ways, adding stress to our core muscles, which can lead to stiffness, discomfort, and pain.
Have you been looking for a reason to get a massage?
Well, here are 3.
Thanks for your kind words, Kim! We appreciate your recommendation and are glad to hear you’re seeing improvement.

Are Cold Plunges All They're Cracked Up To Be? Cold plunges have gained popularity in recent years, but is there more to them than just a passing trend? As your partner in natural health, we wanted to take a look at the popular practice.
Do you have a desk job?
Then there’s a good chance your legs don’t used properly, which can lead to muscle stiffness.
One of the easiest ways to address and prevent muscle stiffness is regularly stretching your muscles. Here are 6 hamstring stretches that cost you nothing and can be done anywhere.
Be gentle when performing any stretch. Go slowly, holding each stretch for 10–30 seconds then relaxing for 5–10 seconds.
You will likely feel slight pain; this is normal, as it’s caused by the stretching of underused muscles. Don’t overdo it though—any pain you do feel shouldn’t be unbearable. Make sure you maintain correct posture and technique to get a good stretch while reducing injury risk.
Always consult with your health practitioner before starting a new exercise regime.
Happy stretching!

Increasing the strength and flexibility in the muscles around your knees makes them more efficient at their job, taking stress off your hips and knees, which reduces joint pain and makes them last longer.
Want a stronger core? Skip the sit-ups.
Thank you for your kind words David! Looking forward to seeing you again!
Got back pain? Bring your knee to your chest and hold it there for 15 seconds. Repeat with the other leg.

Benefits of Chiropractic Care for Posture Improvement When you slouch or hunch over, it can lead to all sorts of problems like back and neck pain, headaches, and even fatigue. If you’ve ever wondered how to make healthier grocery choices, a simple tip is to shop the perimeter of your store.
This is generally where they stock fresh foods, such as fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and fish. These foods are usually whole and unprocessed, making them some of the healthiest choices available.
💚 Fresh Produce
The produce section, often right at the entrance of the store, is a cornucopia of vitamins, minerals, and fibre. Here you’ll find everything from apples and oranges to leafy greens and root vegetables. Buying a variety of fruits and vegetables allows for a diverse diet packed with necessary nutrients.
🧡 Protein Options
Next, you’ll typically encounter the butcher and seafood departments. Lean meats, poultry, and fish provide high-quality protein, essential for maintaining muscle and promoting satiety. Plus, seafood offers omega-3 fatty acids, beneficial for heart and brain health.
🤍Dairy and Alternatives
As you continue around the perimeter, you’ll come across the dairy section: milk, cheese, and eggs—all excellent sources of calcium and protein. If you’re vegan or lactose intolerant, there are plenty of alternatives, such as almond milk and tofu.
🩶 The Inner Aisles
While the perimeter of the store tends to house the freshest, most wholesome foods, this doesn’t mean you should completely avoid the inner aisles. They also contain some healthy options, such as canned beans, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. However, they also house heavily processed foods and snacks, which should be limited in a balanced diet.
Stretching isn’t just something we should do when we wake up in the morning or just before we work out. it’s something we should do throughout the day, especially if we sit at a desk all day or perform repetitive tasks.
Stretching regularly has multiple health benefits:
• Improves performance in physical activities
• Decreases injury risk
• Helps joints move through their full range of motion
• Increases muscle blood flow
• Enables muscles to work more effectively
• Improves ability to do daily activities
If you have questions about stretching, talk to your chiropractor, physiotherapist, or massage therapist at your next visit.
Thanks for your kind words, David! We're thrilled to hear that our team provided efficient and effective service for you.
