We are absolutely shocked to hear of the experiences of multiple students across our campus as a result of the unethical behavior of various candidates in the current society election.
Students who have been impacted are encouraged to please email [email protected]. We want to hear about your experience so that we can take appropriate action. Please, reach out if you have any experiences to share.
Any student who has experienced duress or pressure is also encouraged to seek support at the Student Wellness and Counseling Center. Information about the SWCC can be found at https://www.mun.ca/studentwellness/, and they can be reached at [email protected].
We are deeply sorry that any students experienced discomfort and inappropriate behavior as a result of this society election. We have extensive elections policy, and this behavior certainly violates our governing documents.
We are immediately calling an end to the current BSA election and are maintaining our current suspension of BSA's ratification status. All votes cast are now void and this election is officially over. An investigation into this behavior is ongoing, we are working to collect reports of student experiences in order to move forward.
Student Wellness and Counselling Centre The SWCC continues to remain open and staff are providing services to students via telephone and virtual sessions. Calls from your clinician will come as a "blocked call" or "unknown caller" or similar. Failure to answer the call will result in a missed physician appointment charge.
