This nine year old boy took an unlucky baseball to the teeth, resulting in three complicated crown fractures. ⚾️😣 Fortunately, he was able to recover all three of the fractured incisal segments which were bonded back on following root canal therapy.
Truss access, Five canals, Pulp horns filled. 👀 For an otherwise routine case, decided to challenge myself and make things more complicated just to conserve a bit more dentin.
It is not often that we can get a patient back in for a long term recall. But it is nice to see the outcome, good or bad. This was a 10 year old boy who presented with a facial swelling originating from a necrotic and immature lower first premolar. Regenerative endodontic therapy was performed with the hope of continued root development. At today’s nine year recall, we would have loved to see more root wall thickening, but at least the tooth has remained asymptomatic and the bone has regenerated (even into the canal!) 🤷🏻♂️
We don’t see silver points much anymore these days. Fortunately we were able to retrieve all three without any of them breaking. 🙂
It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these, but you never know when you need to reach for the super glue. Successful retrieval of a separated instrument in the MB2 canal of tooth 26 this morning. Etch tip and glue. The assist goes to our next door neighbor, Monarch Orthodontic Centre - Surrey, as we were actually out of said super glue. 🤦🏻♂️
Minimally invasive endodontics case from this afternoon.
A long premolar from this afternoon. Canals to 17 DCT, fiber post, luxacore. Crown advised.
“Mini Molar” 3-canal upper first premolar this afternoon.
Last case of the week. Would have liked to see a touch less sealer out the palatal canal though. 😣 Have a great weekend everyone!
Wow! The black light sure makes our teeth glow! A fun team building night out with glow in the dark mini putt.
A super nice emergency patient from this morning, who had been experiencing severe pain for the past few days. Tooth 48, SIP/SAP. Tough access, with it being a third molar 😑
🚶🏻this bifurcating lower premolar already showing some nice healing at today’s completion visit. (Two months with calcium hydroxide not shown)
And that’s a wrap! One of the last cases of the year. Incision and Drainage of this Acute Apical Abscess, with a good amount of pus coming out. Wishing everyone a safe and Happy New Year!
Apical surgery case from this morning. There was a separated NiTi rotary file in the apical 2/3 of the MB canal that also extended beyond the root apex. Wasn’t sure if it was even possible to retrieve the file from the apical end, as its taper might cause it to be wedged. Was pleasantly surprised when the ultrasonic tip managed to jiggle it out enough to be grasped by pliers! 😃
A fun-filled night with good eats, good drinks, and even better bowling action with Team Radix!
🐙 A case from this afternoon. Always excited to see a tooth with five independent canals.
A bittersweet "see you later" to one of our CDAs, Catherine, who'll be embarking on a new journey.
Catherine joined us fresh out of school and quickly became one of our senior CDAs. We will certainly miss her cheerful and kind presence in the office.
Still growing! — This 8 year old girl presented with severe pain associated with tooth #46, consistent with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis due to a large carious lesion in its occlusal surface. A Biodentine pulpotomy was performed to maintain pulp vitality and promote continued root maturation. At today’s 1.5 year recall, the tooth has remained asymptomatic and there was radiographic evidence of root maturation and apical closure.
Previously Initiated Therapy, with the mesiobuccal canal still to be located. The single distal canal showing some cool splitting action in the apical third. 💨
