🦷 Impacted Wisdom Teeth 🦷
Impacted wisdom teeth can lead to several oral health issues, one of the most common being cavities on neighboring teeth. Here’s how it happens:
Limited Access for Cleaning: Impacted wisdom teeth are often hard to reach with a toothbrush and floss. This creates an ideal environment for plaque and bacteria to build up, not just on the wisdom teeth but also on adjacent teeth.
Food Traps: The awkward positioning of impacted wisdom teeth can create spaces where food particles get stuck. These food traps are difficult to clean and can lead to decay on neighboring molars.
Bacterial Spread: When bacteria accumulate around an impacted wisdom tooth, it can easily spread to the adjacent teeth, increasing the risk of cavities. The bacteria produce acids that erode tooth enamel, leading to decay.
Inflammation and Infection: Impacted wisdom teeth can cause inflammation and infection in the gums, which can spread to the surrounding teeth. Infected gums can recede, exposing more of the neighboring teeth to plaque and bacteria.
Pressure and Crowding: The pressure from impacted wisdom teeth can cause crowding and misalignment, making it even more challenging to clean between teeth effectively. This increases the likelihood of cavities forming in these hard-to-reach areas.
To prevent these issues, it’s crucial to maintain regular dental check-ups. Your dentist can monitor the position of your wisdom teeth and recommend extraction if necessary to protect your overall oral health. 💚 ➡️ Swipe to see a recent extracted Wisdom Tooth. 🍏🦷😊✨

🌟 Curious about night guards?😊 If you’re experiencing jaw pain or teeth grinding, a night guard could be your smile’s best friend! 💤 Clenching your teeth will put a lot of pressure on your teeth. This pressure can cause tiny cracks to form. These cracks can lead to pain when biting 🥴 or chewing food. The cracks are irreversible, so if you are noticing that’s your jaw feels “tight” in the mornings, please reach out to our dental office to explore if a nightguard is right for you!

🦷✨ Cavity detection between teeth! 🕵️♀️🦷 🔍 Thanks to advanced techniques like bitewing X-rays, we can find cavities lurking between teeth. No more hiding for cavities – with early detection, we can tackle them head-on and keep your smile sparkling! ✨😁
Bitewings are routinely done once a year, to catch decay early. 🗓️
This X-ray shows a cavity under an existing filling. Often we’ll diagnose a cavity and our patients may be skeptical because there is no sensitivity, but that’s the goal! We want to catch them early :) This patient had no pain or sensitivity. Once we removed the old filling you can see the decay. We removed the decay and placed a new filling ✔️

🔍 Ever wonder how we spot cavities before they cause trouble? 🦷
Say hello to our trusty dental explorer! ✨ An explorer allows us to detect cavities on the surface of teeth. We use this tool by gently probing teeth to feel for any soft spots or irregularities. A cavity is a small hole or damage extending into the second layer -the dentin of a tooth. The dentin is soft, so the explorer sticks when we poke into suspicious lesions. 🎯
Early detection means we can treat the issue before it becomes a bigger problem. So next time you’re in for a check-up, know that our dental explorer has got your back! 😁🔍

Thank you Rasha!
We look forward to our renovations being completed shortly 🤞
After 17 years in our original location, we were so lucky to expand into the unit next door. In June of 2022 I remember saying to my husband “We need a bigger space” and by September 2022 we had secured the bigger space!
We received our permits in April 2023 and moved into the new space in January 2024. The last phase of the renovation is to update the original office to match the new build.
Our staff and patients have been so patient with everything related to the logistics and construction of a new dental office while keeping the existing office open (except that one day where we moved everyone to the Newton location).
Thank you 🙏
Relax your jaw. Unclench your teeth.
When I first started asking patients “Do you clench your teeth?” The answer was almost always “no”. More recently I have noticed that many patients are aware of their clenching habit. 😬 Looking into the mouth we can see cracks in teeth, receding gums, and also signs of clenching/grinding on the cheeks and tongue.
It’s more common than not.
How to break the habit:
Start by being aware of how your jaw sits when you are “relaxed”. When your mouth is closed (when not talking or eating) your top and bottom teeth should be slightly apart. Breath through your nose, lips touch, but teeth do NOT.
Be aware and make a conscious effort to keep your jaw relaxed.
Before you go to sleep, relax your jaw.
Keep doing that until it feels normal and natural.
If that doesn’t work there are other options… a custom night guard to train your jaw to be in a relaxed position and also botox is a great option for some.

Your Guide to a Healthy Mouth 😁🦷🍏
See your dentist regularly 🧑🏽⚕️👨⚕️👩🏼⚕️👨🏽⚕️🗓️
Regular dental exams and professional cleanings are the best way to prevent and detect problems before they get worse. The dental team will check for tooth decay as well as changes in the gums, and bones.
Choose a variety of healthy foods and drinks each day 🥗🍱🧀🥦🥕🥛
Eat a well-balanced diet. Good nutrition helps build strong teeth and gums.
Check your mouth regularly 🕵️♀️👀
Look for signs of gum disease and oral cancer. Look for new bumps or discolouration in soft tissues in the mouth.
Limit alcohol, and avoid smoking, smokeless to***co and va**ng 🛑🥃🚬
To***co use remains the leading cause of preventable death and disease in Canada.
Keep your mouth clean 🪥🦷
Brush twice a day using a soft-bristle toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste, floss every day.

Introducing Dr. Kandola, who is primarily at the Newton location.
“Before” a dental hygiene visit on the left and “After” on the right. Plaque can be removed with brushing and flossing, but if not removed it can harden in as little as 24 hours. Once it hardens it’s known as Tartar or Calculus and can’t be removed as easily. Hygienists use sharp tools and magnification to see and remove tartar 🌟🦷🌟😁
New space for our CBCT (Cone-beam computed tomography). The data captured by this CBCT will allow us to recreate 3-D images of teeth and surrounding bone. This CBCT will integrate with our CEREC, 3-D printer and scanner. For example, if a patient wanted an implant, we would take scan of their teeth (like a digital impression) and use the CBCT to see the bone and important anatomy. We could determine the ideal position of the dental implant and then 3-D print a stent. Then we could also use the scan to make a temporary and final crown. Doing all this in-house will give us more control of the process and be much more convenient for patients!
Introduce kids early to the Dentist…before there are problems. Also, distract them with Polly Pocket 😊
Swipe to see the after!
The most common spot for tartar (calculus) buildup is the back of the lower front teeth. If not removed, the tartar builds up and can cause recession and bone loss over time. Personally, I love removing these chunks of calculus 😊
Our beautiful receptionist Bryony had a baby girl on Sunday April 16th. We can't wait to meet Ivy Jean!
