The Lakehead University Student Union Pride Central is an educational, lobbying, support and referral service which provides a safe space for le***an, gay, bisexual, trans-gendered, two-spirited, q***r, intersex, and allies (LGBTTQIA) students. It is open to all Lakehead University students (and community) with a focus on ending discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Celebrate Pride with us on Thursday, June 27th from 12:30-3:00 pm in the Library Courtyard! Activities will also take place in the RC Lobby and Lakehead International.

Tomorrow is the first day in the global “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign.
Understanding gender-based violence (GBV) is the first step in taking action. GBV includes any emotional, physical, psychological, financial, physical or sexual violence experiences because of gender expression, gender identity or perceived gender. Everyone has the right to live a life free of violence.

September 17-23 is Gender Equality Week. On Tuesday, we took a look at gender equality throughout history. Today, we look at statistics that provide a glimpse into the state of gender equality in 2023.
Please remember, data collection can be flawed, particularly with regard to statistics around violence and the ways gender intersects with race, sexual orientation, gender identity, class, religion, disability, etc.
