Meeting my global tribe in person ๐โค๏ธ๐
I recently returned from my trip to Tallinn, Estonia, to attend the Supercoach event hosted by Mindvalley. ๐ช๐ช
If you had asked me 3 years ago if I saw myself making such deep connections with fellow coaches and my students/clients from all over the world, the answer would have been NOT POSSIBLE. ๐
โโ๏ธโ๏ธ
Donโt get me wrong. I did have friends from different parts of the world too then, although not as many as now.
๐ค But before, it was because we met in person first and spent some quality time together that we decided to keep in touch.
๐ค๐ญ๐ซ๐ฌ With my current community and support groups, it was because we met online first, going through certifications, practice labs, and programs together as classmates/students/clients of mine or working together as lab coaches, that we developed such a great bond and rapport that we had the desire to meet in person, which helped to solidify the relationship.
Those in-person meetings that took place in Tallinn didnโt feel awkward. It was so natural that I felt like I was speaking with old friends and kindred spirits. ๐
Sure, I was there to attend the event, as well as being a volunteer to help out. ๐โโ๏ธ๐ฝ
I also got to see my mentors and teachers shine on stage, doing what they do best to inspire us. ๐คฉ
The main draw really were the people. ๐
Iโm grateful that such an opportunity was created by Mindvalley Events to help me stay aligned with my higher purpose and to deepen my connections and practice. ๐
Here is to continued collaboration and co-elevation. ๐ฅ
Thank you to everyone who took their time to reach out and share their knowledge, expertise, and experiences with me, as well as letting me know that I have helped them in any way. ๐ซโค๏ธ๐

New summer haircut. ๐โโ๏ธ
The shortest Iโve ever had. ๐ซฃ
Feel like Iโm a completely different person.
Time for exploration and experimentation in this new look and phase of my life. ๐
Hair can always grow back right? lol. ๐๐
๐
Abundance of summer, plants, animals, and insects. โค๏ธ๐
Be careful out there on the trails.
I was recently interviewed by fellow MV certified coach facebook.com/LuPier.angel.i about how self-care can translate into all areas of our total wellbeing from the microbiome to the macrobiome.
In our short discussion, we explored how our daily choices, from what we eat to the thoughts we cultivate, not only impact our personal well-being but also have profound effects on the health of our planet. ๐
Self-care is not just about getting a massage, a spa treatment or sleeping in. It is about how to nurture positive thoughts, affirmations, and food choices to make our immediate environment healthier. โฏ๏ธ
We also spoke about the importance of detoxifying personal care products and using natural cleaning alternatives to minimize exposure to harmful chemicals. That also includes the quality of our drinking water and opting for safer cookware and food storage options to further reduce toxin exposure. โฃ๏ธ
Many resource links are also provided in the show note section under the video to help you continue down a healthier path. Hope you find them useful and insightful. ๐
Would love to hear your thoughts below when you have a chance to watch. ๐๐๐

Farmerโs Market is back! ๐๐๐๐ฉโ๐พ๐จโ๐พ
So great to see so many people at the opening too. ๐
Living in the North, we donโt have the same growing season as the South. ๐
๐ฑ๐ชด
Iโve been counting the days for the Farmerโs Market to return. โณ๐ค
Even though most of their products are still growing in their green houses, it was just so good to be able to see and reconnect with my farming friends. โค๏ธ
And to meeting a couple of new vendors (whom I didnโt meet or have missed last year.) ๐ค
I got some green tomatoes ๐๐
to try for the first time and a new bug-bite cream with all natural & real ingredients (you know we need it in the North! ๐ญ๐ฆ), and whatever else from the first batch of the harvest (sprouts, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, eggs, and maple syrup). ๐
Canโt wait until the harvest season is in full swing. โ๏ธ๐ซถ
๐
๐ฏ agree.
You donโt have to tackle all 5. Just learning to get better with one will start to create a ripple effect in the other areas. ๐
๐ฅ Inflammation Alert: 5 Triggers to Watch Out For! ๐ฅ โ
โ
Inflammation is your body's way of responding to threats, but when chronic, it can lead to various health issues. โ
โ
Here are five common triggers you should be aware of:โ
๐ซStress: High stress levels can wreak havoc on your immune system, promoting inflammation. โ
๐ด Poor Sleep: Sleep is your body's natural healer, and inadequate sleep disrupts this process. โ
๐ง Excess Refined Sugar: Refined sugars found in many processed foods can spike your blood sugar levels, leading to inflammation. โ
๐ Fried Foods: Fried foods are often high in unhealthy fats, which can promote inflammation and harm your overall health.โ
๐ฅ Alcohol: Excessive alcohol consumption can disrupt your gut health and contribute to inflammation and so much more. โ
โ
By paying attention to these triggers and opting for healthier choices, you can keep your body balanced and free from chronic inflammation ๐ฟ

Nutrition is not learned in school and barely covered in medical schools.
So important to know what you eat, when you eat, how you eat and how much you eat. โค๏ธ
Wellness is everywhere in our culture today, yet many of us are sicker than ever.
Sadly, real nutrition isn't a focus in our education system. Our medical professionals often aren't trained to use food as medicine, and we are bombarded with misinformation from the fast-food and pharmaceutical industries. Chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and obesity are at all-time highs, affecting millions and leading to preventable deaths.๐
It's time to reclaim our health! ๐
Understanding nutrition and adopting a healthy lifestyle can transform your life. There's no universal solution for everyone, and the sea of conflicting dietary advice online can be overwhelming. ๐คฏ

๐ฝ๏ธ Mindful Eating: Nourishing Body and Soul for Busy Women ๐ฟ
๐โโ๏ธAs we navigate the complexities of work and home life, our attention is often divided, leading to rushed meals and eating on the go. ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐ถ๐งณโ๏ธ
๐ช But taking the time to sit down and savor our food can help us feel more grounded and present, reducing stress and promoting better digestion.
โค๏ธ Let's reclaim mealtime as a moment of self-care and nourishment.
๐ฅ๐ดBy engaging all five senses in the dining experienceโseeing, smelling, tasting, hearing, and touchingโwe can cultivate a deeper connection to our food and ourselves.
๐ณ Research suggests that distracted eating can contribute to weight gain and digestive issues.
๐งโโ๏ธConsuming meals mindfully can lead to reduced calorie intake and improved nutrient absorption, offering potential benefits for those who may be grappling with weight management and gut health.
Let's prioritize ourselves and our health, one mindful bite at a time. ๐
You'll be surprised how much it can help with weight management without doing any hard diets or calorie counting. ๐
Together, we can cultivate a nourishing relationship with food and reclaim our well-being. ๐

Havenโt posted much lately on social media. ๐
Was on a digital LOW-TOX diet. ๐ต
As there is no more the snow and the sun is rising earlier and setting later these days, Iโm really enjoying my time outdoors. ๐๏ธ
Especially when itโs in the company of my friends. โค๏ธ
Weekend is coming too.
Hope you get to spend it with your loved ones or with activities you enjoy or with time to relax and enjoy what nature has to offer. ๐

Are you a long-time follower of Food Matters and my health transformation journey? ๐ค
If so, you know that we aren't taught about real nutrition in school. ๐ฅบ

Now it's time to take our power back! ๐ช
The Food Matters Instituteโs Nutrition Certification Program is here to alleviate your overwhelm and hours spent seeking support, to help you transform your health and life, and to help others do the same. โค๏ธ

Taking on the Dragon (trail) in the year of the Dragon and first day of March. ๐
Such a beautiful and warm day (-1 degree Celsius) โ๏ธ to take on the most difficult trail at ski runners.
My friend Joanne and I were breaking the trail. ๐
With the fresh snowfall and no one having been on the trail, we could talk and hear each other properly, without hearing the loud crunching sound of ice. ๐ง๐
Fresh powder baby! โ๏ธ๐
It is not a long trail, but challenging for the twists and turns + ups and downs. ๐ช
Joanne even made me lead the way today. ๐
I think I did ok. ๐
This experience brought me to realize some parallels between navigating through trails and life. ๐ค
When we are made the leader, we pay more attention to our surroundings by:
1๏ธโฃ searching for a path that has wider openings,
2๏ธโฃ looking for tools that can assist in the climb or descent if needed,
3๏ธโฃ watching out for any potential falls up ahead,
4๏ธโฃ checking in with the team from time to time to ensure we are still in pace,
5๏ธโฃ discussing if we need to modify our initial plan,
6๏ธโฃ scanning for signs/markers left by the previous trail breakers,
And, not forgetting to take time to enjoy the new vista points along the way and cherish how far weโve come. ๐โค๏ธ
I really enjoyed this little challenge today. โ๏ธ
So grateful to have Joanne guiding me and accompanying me on all my new trail adventures. ๐

Snow Moon Rising. ๐
It is also the Lantern Festival, marking the end of the Lunar New Year Festival. ๐ฎ
The lanterns can symbolize people letting go of their past selves and getting new ones.
Another possible origin is the celebration of "the declining darkness of winter" and community's ability to "move about at night with human-made light (i.e. lanterns.)โ
In North American indigenous cultures and some European cultures, it may have been associated with rituals or ceremonies to prepare for the coming spring, ensure a prosperous agricultural season, or ward off evil spirits during the cold months. ๐
Today is also great day to set some intentions for the new year and the upcoming spring:
๐1๏ธโฃ Reflect on the past or this past year on what you need to let go off.๐ค
๐2๏ธโฃ What do you want to cultivate and invite into your life in the new year? ๐ค
๐3๏ธโฃ What are you grateful for? ๐
๐4๏ธโฃ Meditate or visualize yourself doing what you have set out to do, as if you were already there. ๐งโโ๏ธ
๐5๏ธโฃ Speak it. Write it down. Or journal it. ๐
๐6๏ธโฃ If you wrote it down on a piece of paper, burn it and let it go. ๐ฅTrust that the universe has your back. ๐ช๐ซ
๐7๏ธโฃ What is the small first step you can take toward your vision? And take it. ๐ฃ
No matter what your beliefs are, the winter months, in the old days when people couldnโt do much outside, was the perfect time for self-reflection, recuperation, and planning for the upcoming year.
Syncing with nature and following its natural rhythms help us to see that much of our life is cyclical. ๐
Even with profits and growth of corporations, it is not a straight line all the time. ๐
The constricting periods are the springboards for us to reach new heights. ๐
What are some of your intentions for the new year? What action steps have you taken?๐ ๐ ๐

Another week on the snowshoe trail. ๐๐ฅฐ
It was freezing today but sunny! ๐
We went from +2 degrees Celsius yesterday to -21 degrees this morning. ๐ฅถ
Thank goodness it warmed up to -15 this afternoon. โ๏ธ
Enjoyed my chance to get out into nature and connect with my friend Joanne on the trails. โค๏ธ
Itโs been a lot of calls lately. Grateful to have quick access to nature and remove myself from work and screens. ๐
Wish you a great weekend with your loved ones. ๐ซถ

From print to real life. ๐ป
With the arrival of the lunar new year of the Dragon, it was adviced by many Feng Shui masters to head north to welcome the new energy into our lives.
So we did and went to Cochrane Polar Bear Habit in Cochrane, Ontario, Canada. ๐ปโโ๏ธ
We have a Morrisseau print of โSacred Bear Healerโ at home for many years. โค๏ธ
For fun, when I last did a โspiritual animalโ test, I had the traits of a โBearโ as well. ๐ป๐
I saw polar bears before, in Sea World in San Diego(before she passed away) and in the Toronto Zoo.
The Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat functions as a sanctuary for polar bears in need. ๐๐๐
It provides them with access to a natural environment that changes with the seasons.
The bears can freely interact with their environment by swimming, digging, pulling out vegetation, or moving things around. ๐
We met Amy, the manager of the habit, who, originally from Australia, has been in Cochrane for nearly 10 years. ๐ฅฐ
Her love for the polar bears really showed and she took time to answer a lot of our questions. ๐๐
With only about 25,000 polar bears left in the world and 15,000 of them in Canada, Iโm grateful that there is such habit available to them. ๐
So that we can continue to ensure those magnificent animals can thrive and not be a victim of climate change. ๐ค๐ค๐ค
We also visited the Snowmobile museum to see the evolution of snowmobiles and the Cochrane Heritage Village.๐
It was a nice Sunday outing. Iโm happy we went and I learned even more about the wide spread effects of climate change. ๐ก๏ธ๐ช๏ธ๐
๐
Rain on a winter day and lunar New Yearโs Eve!โ๏ธโ๏ธ๐ฒ
My friend Joanne and I still managed to go out on the trails today, even though it was slippery and rainingโฆ ๐ง๏ธ
We didnโt use our snowshoes bc they would be damaged. Instead, she brought me a pair of grippers to go over my hiking boots. ๐
This has been a winter full of broken records, for being the warmest. โจ๏ธ
Many winter sport enthusiasts havenโt been able to do their recreational winter activities consistently like snowshoeing, cross-country/downhill skiing, snowmobiling, ice-fishing and more. ๐ฅบ
For those of us living in the โgreat white Northโ, this may feel like a relief from the long and cold winter.
But reduced snowfall and less snow cover on the ground could diminish the beneficial insulating effects of snow for vegetation and wildlife, while also affecting water supplies, transportation, cultural practices, and travel, besides recreation mentioned earlier. (Sourced from https://www.epa.gov/)
๐๐๐Snow is free. โ๏ธ Water is free. ๐ฆAir is free. ๐จ
The free things are almost always the most precious and have been taken for granted. ๐
Itโs the โAlmost ALWAYS FREE stuff, like water and air, volunteers, Wikipedia, EWG (Environmental Working Group), kindness of strangers, and much more, that we need to spotlight them even more. ๐๐๐
What would happen on the day when none of the above exists any more? ๐ค๐ค๐ค
Who are the people doing much of the work behind the scenes or unpaid in your community? Or anything else you know we have taken for granted? ๐ง
Who/what would you like to highlight? ๐คฉ Please share with me below. ๐๐๐

Snowshoeing on Ground Hog Day! โ๏ธ๐ฅพโ๏ธ
And no, it wasnโt -19 degrees Celsius. It was -10 today when we went. ๐
And the ground hog Wiarton Willie didnโt see his shadow so an early Spring is expected. ๐ท
So grateful for my friend Joanne, who has helped me to make this a weekly event (most of the time ๐.)
She also introduced me to another friend, Cynthia, today. โค๏ธ
Good to see so many people out on the trails, young and old, taking advantage of the warmer and sunny day! โ๏ธ
We trekked almost no-stop for nearly 1 1/2 hours (stopped for quick photos.) ๐ช
Happy and grateful to have trails so close to town that are monitored and groomed by the Ski Runners ๐
Until next time. โ๏ธ

๐ Elevate Your Wellness Journey: Embrace Your Health Baseline ๐
As a holistic health, nutrition, and fitness coach specializing in women's well-being, I've seen the transformative power of establishing a solid health baseline, especially during perimenopause and menopause. ๐ท๐
Embarking on a new chapter? ๐
Consider my journey!
1๏ธโฃ Personalization: Tailoring programs is key during this unique phase, using various testing methods such as ~
VO2 max done at VO2Peak โ cardiovascular health/endurance: My own results went from 39.6 to 41.5 in 2 years.
Dexa Scan done at Push Poundsโ muscle/fat/bone density: my lean muscle mass increased and fat mass decreased. Went from 25% to 23% in one year, 2 years ago. Need to do another scan soon.๐
Biomarkers (BP & Glucose measured at home): My RPP - Rate Pressure Product (from Blood Pressure measurement): at 5546, under 7000 and at fit range, and Blood glucose (measured with a Glucometer): at 5.2 which is between 5.0-5.5 at healthy range 2 years ago. Time for another measurement.๐ค
2๏ธโฃ Safety First: Navigating hormonal changes with care ensures a safe and effective wellness journey for every amazing woman out there.
Knowing how to tweak the workout levels using standard, scaled, progression, and alternative exercises to suit my own fitness needs and my clientsโ, as well as how to perform them at home and at the gym is super important. ๐๐๐
3๏ธโฃ Nutritional Precision: Viomeโs Full Body Intelligence Test* revealed superfoods and avoid foods tailored to MY unique biology โ crucial during perimenopause and menopause.
*While not everyone has access to precision nutrition tests, there are also other ways to find out what foods work best with your body. Ex. Elimination diet or allergy tests.
4๏ธโฃ Track Progress: Witness your own transformation through before-and-after photos and your power-to-weight ratio (tracked with 10X fitness Power to weight ratio template) to know your fitness level.
My own power-to-weight ratio went from from 3.1 (deficient level ) to 8.1 (fit level) in 3 years.
Ready to honor your well-being during perimenopause and menopause? ๐ธ Prioritize your health baseline โ the compass to navigating this incredible journey! ๐โจ
My first snowshoeing adventure!!! โ๏ธ๐ฟ
It was fun, even though it was -19 degrees Celsius.
So grateful for my friend, Joanne, to take me on the Porcupine Ski Runnersโs trails today and showing me the ropes. ๐
It was cold but in the woods, itโs less windy and absolutely beautiful and serene. โฎ๏ธ
I got my winter sun exposure today too, besides the one hour hiking activity. โ๏ธ๐ถ๏ธโ
Iโll be back. โค๏ธ
๐
Noticed the height of the snow bank behind me! ๐ฒ๐
It was a shock to the system to go from +27 degrees Celsius in Grand Cayman and even +21 in Fort Lauderdale to -15 in Timmins, although was expected.
We got lots of snow this weekend too. ๐จ๏ธโ๏ธ
But at least the sun did come out for a while! ๐โ๏ธ
I also made it back to my local gym today . ๐ช
My total workout time was 10 minutes and 40 seconds. Not bad at all.
I did continue to work out once a week at the hotel gyms when we were away, using machines different from my local gym (swipe to see pix.)๐๐๐
So, it was good to see that I didnโt deviate much at all when I came back. โ๏ธ
Grateful that my Garmin app linked to my Garmin watch has been updated with some new features too for me to continue tracking my progress. ๐
Happy to be home, regardless of the weather. ๐ โค๏ธ
Ps. I worked out in my sweat shirt. Thatโs why my initial body temperature was already high. lol. ๐งฃ๐งค๐๏ธโโ๏ธ

Conquering one of my fears! ๐ตโ๐ซ๐ซฃ
Happy 2024!
My family and I started our new year aboard the Beyond cruise ship leaving from Fort Lauderdale to The Grand Cayman, Cozumel Mexico, and Bimini Bahamas. ๐ณ๏ธโ๏ธ
Itโs our first time on a cruise, because I have a fear of the deep ocean. ๐ฅด๐ตโ๐ซ๐ต๐
We thought it would be a good place to start and face my fear gradually.
For a selfish reason partially, we want to get some sun and warmth โ๏ธ๐ถ๏ธ, and to leave the Canadian winter for a while, especially when my results show my Vitamin D pathways are not optimized. ๐
It is wonderful that the crew members have been super accommodating to my familyโs dietary requirements. They also go above and โbeyondโ(fitting to the shipโs name) to ensure that we are happy with what we get. ๐
Being on the ship reminded me of the movie ๐ฌโValerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.โ - it is like a city of 5000 people, literally: 3400 passengers and 1400 crew members.
There are a wellness centre, bars, restaurants, a gym, pools, a 1 km walking/running track, gardens, a barbershop, a hair salon, medical centre, shops, a theatre with live performers, open air cinema, and ample places to hide and read a book. ๐คฉ
With our package(Aqua Class), we also have our own lounge, restaurants, dedicated concierge service, and access to many amenities for free. ๐
With our Behind the Scenes tour, we got to see how the ship collect and recycle garbage and waste, how the crew live on board, what happened during COVID, what the officers do on the bridge, 25% more than the requirement on safety devices, where food is stored, a central processing kitchen although each restaurant has their specialties, how they plan months in advance for food and really minimize the food waste. โป๏ธ
It was good to see a company who cares about their people, their guests, and the environment. ๐
This really is a city that doesnโt sleep. All the crew work so hard on board. ๐ซถ๐ซถ๐ซถ
Iโll post some photos of the places we visited on land some time this week.
Photos here are all about the ship. โค๏ธ๐ณ๏ธ
Iโm going to miss seeing some of the familiar faces of the crew for sure. ๐ค

How to stay healthy and stress-free over the holidays, as a health-conscious host or guest. ๐
The holiday festivity seems to be going strong this year, since we came out of the pandemic. Iโve personally gone to 3 parties already, with one more this weekend. ๐
Whether you are a host or a guest over the holidays, here are some tips to help you minimize the interruption to your health routines:
1๏ธโฃ Stay hydrated โ with each glass of wine, make sure you follow with one glass of water.
2๏ธโฃ Communicate clearly and politely to your host or guest your specific dietary needs right after the invitation is sent or received.
3๏ธโฃ Plan ahead by offering assistance and suggestions on the menu or food items.
4๏ธโฃ Be flexible to work with whatโs available.
5๏ธโฃ Follow up closer to the event to clarify or to reiterate your dietary requirement, and
6๏ธโฃ Always express your gratitude to the hostโs or guestโs understanding and accommodation.
The holidays are a time for connecting with our loved ones, for deeper social relations building with your colleagues and your community outside of your work environment, and a time to reflect on the year gone by as well as to breathe and rest.
Know and remember your intentions and stay present to them. Everything else, after some clear communication and planning, will follow naturally.
This is my last post before the holidays. I want to use this opportunity to wish you all a peaceful and joyful holiday season. ๐ ๐ ๐
A big thanks to my family, mentors, students, clients, and fellow health coaches for your continued support. โค๏ธ See you in 2024!
Got my VO2 max test and SmO2 test done on Saturday at VO2Peak in Sudbury. ๐๐๐
So happy to have such a facility for people to access up here in Northern Ontario.
I did have to travel from Timmins to there but it was worth it.
Troy is super knowledgeable and I can see the amount of hard work and research he has put in to make this available to not only elite athletes but every day health enthusiasts who want to know if their training is working. ๐
I havenโt received my complete report yet but I know my VO2 max score has improved.
Also my first time to have SmO2 test done.
For someone who does NOT run or cycle at all, it shows to me that my 10X Alpha training is working. ๐๐๐
Canโt wait to receive my report and see what it will reveal.
๐
2 new records!!! ๐
Increased my leg press from 220 to 230 lbs for the first time and executed more than 12 reps in each circuit. ๐ฅ
And first time to complete 10X Alpha under 10 minutes. (9 mins and 53 seconds) ๐ฅ
Was dragging myself out the door this morning because of the continuous snowfall here. ๐จ๏ธ๐ญ
But if I didnโt do it today, it would be hard to find time during the rest of my weekโฆ
Actually felt l wasnโt drained at the end of my workout, despite soreness from hot yoga 2 days ago and fewer hours of sleep last night (6 hours compared to 7-7 1/2 normally.)โ๏ธ
I had a lot of rice as part of dinner last night which probably helped with more energy for my strength training today. ๐ค
Although snow has continued to fall on and off, the temperature is mild and I was also able to complete my grocery shopping today after workout.
Thanks to everyone who kept the gym open - Discover Fitness, store shelves stocked - Johnsonโs Your Independent Grocer, and ploughed the roads - The City of Timmins today, so I could do what I set out to do. ๐
I feel good. Wish you all a great start to your week too! โค๏ธ
๐
Love it that my car was still warm after my workout. โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ
It was -3 degrees Celsius when I first got to the gym and -2 when I left. โ๏ธ
Because my workout was so short (under 11 minutes), when I left the gym, my car was still warm actually. ๐
Also loved that Mr. & Mrs. Claus were also there to work out with me. ๐๐ช
Great touch Discover Fitness. ๐
I delayed my workout by a day as we were away this past weekend.
Needed a day to recover from the trip. lol. ๐คช
I did 10 minutes and 9 seconds last week, which was a record for me. ๐
I finished at 10 minutes and 48 seconds today, while increasing the repetitions in 4 of my movements. ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ
Even though I delayed my workout by a day.
Now my legs are wobblyโฆ ๐
The 10X protocol has provided me with the ultimate flexibility when I can work all 5 of my major muscle groups in a short time with a minimum of 80% effort, which is highly efficient, and thus creating optimal results with proper recovery time. ๐
How do you feel, function, and look with the resistance training you have been doingโโโ
Do you know if itโs helping you to build muscle strength and endurance? Do you give your body proper recovery time? What is your work capacity ie. how do you know if you have executed a quality workout?๐ค๐ค๐ค
Let me know below what has been working and what has not been working for you below. ๐๐๐
