McMillan’s Financial Services Partner Jill Pereira led a group of our female lawyers to attend the 25th Annual Peak Awards Gala hosted by Association of Women in Finance (AWF).

As a sponsor, it was a pleasure to celebrate the success and achievements of the PEAK Award nominees, for their continued commitment and influence brought to BC’s finance community.

During the evening, our lawyers have a chance to meet and reconnect with members of AWF and women in finance representatives across industries.

McMillan recently welcomed a group from Aboriginal Futures Career & Training Centre to our Calgary office for a presentation, office tour and meet and greet with capital markets and securities associate Cody Foggin.

Aboriginal Futures serves the urban Indigenous population who live in Calgary and the surrounding area and offers help with career decision making, education and training enhancement and employment preparation.

As a firm, we are committed to helping support Indigenous students and communities. Our very own Kristin Grier, came to us through an internship with Aboriginal Futures last year, and we are proud to now have her as our full time receptionist at our office.

McMillan's capital markets and securities partner Leila Rafi is featured in Canadian Lawyer Magazine discussing the importance of building your profile in order to grow your career. Leila, who was named one of Canadian Lawyer’s 25 Most Influential Lawyers in 2022, explains how she enjoys expanding her network by building her profile outside the law firm and attending and speaking at conferences.
