The large box is a good size for 2-4 people and the small box is a good size for 1-2 people. Please feel free to add special requests or items you do not want below, and we will do our best to honour the requests.

As the Scarborough Co-op Market operates from this location, we will be temporarily closed.

Scarborough Co-op Market

Local. Ethical. Fresh.

Scarborough Co-op Market a community-led online and in-person marketplace made for improved access to good food and produce. Our aim is to make fresh, ethical, locally grown and made food accessible to all residents of Scarborough. We want to create a space for community gathering, for events and education, for celebrating good food.

Food is more than fuel. It is culture, it is history, it is pleasure, it is family and community connection. Here in Scarborough, we’re operating on the traditional sovereign territory of many Indigenous Nations. The area known as Tkaronto has been under the care of the Anishinabeg, the Haudenosaunee, the Huron-Wendat, and any others other Nations, recorded and unrecorded. It is still the home to many Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island. We acknowledge the current treaty holders, the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation. All residents of Scarborough are also living in the Dish with One Spoon Territory, which is a Wampum belt covenant originally signed between the Haudenosaunee and the Anishnaabeg and describes the land as a dish that will be shared with one spoon in a spirit of mutual respect, peace, and, friendship. The absence of a knife within this Treaty describes the need to maintain peace for the benefit of all. As settlers and displanted colonized peoples, we come to this land by Treaty 13, also known as the Toronto “Purchase” between the Crown and Mississaugas. The area is known as "Scarborough" is additionally under the William 1923 treaty and the Rouge Tract Claim which was submitted in 2015 by the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

This is a reminder that although we are uninvited settlers on Indigenous land, we are all treaty people and we seek to uphold the Two Row Wampum Belt and Covenant Chain agreements. We strive to uphold these values in our work at the Scarborough Market, by prioritizing growers that care for the land in a sustainable, anti-oppressive way and by caring for each other by improving access to good for all people in our communities. To honor the cultural diversity within Scarborough, we also strive to provide a variety of culturally-specific offerings to meet the needs of all community members.

The Scarborough Co-op Market is a place made for and by the community, to support each other in making sure we all have what we need to have an enjoyable life. We know that access to good food is a justice issue because the root of food insecurity is not simply about not having food, or not knowing how to make good food choices. It is directly related to systems of oppression including colonialism, racism, and capitalism. At the Scarborough Co-op Market, we aim to imagine new ways to connect as a community. We are offering income opportunities through vendor spots, free of charge to anyone who makes or grows things in Scarborough. We are prioritizing buying from Black and Indigenous suppliers, supporting farms with ethical labor and environmental practices, and offering a wide range of culturally specific products to meet the diverse needs of Scarborough. In addition, we want to make the market accessible and affordable for everyone. The Scarborough Co-op Market does not make any profits, and all money raised will be put directly back into the community and into making the market affordable to all. We are also offering a Market Credit program so that if you are unable to afford food from the Scarborough Market, you can receive some support to help subsidize your purchase. We are also open to food trades! If you grow a bumper crop or have fruit trees that you do not make use of, please get in touch and we are willing to trade home-grown produce for market credit.

What is Food Justice?

Food justice is the belief that access to good, ethically sourced food is a human right.

At the Scarborough Co-op Market, we believe the only way to end food injustice is to address it at the root: institutional, structural, interpersonal, and internalized oppression.

This means being anti-oppression and centering:

Indigenous and Black food and land sovereignty

migrant workers justice

climate justice

anti-poverty justice (liveable wages)

racial justice

disability justice

regenerative, localized agriculture practices

political ecology

We are committed to providing products with a food justice lens.
