Tomorrow is the last day for you to cast your vote and have your say on the top resolutions that will make it to the next stage of the policy process!

The 2023 Open Policy Process is in full swing and it is moments like these that keep our Liberal movement strong, growing, and innovative. Registered Liberals have until October 6th at 11:59 pm ET to prioritize the top 9 resolutions, and identify the top 3 resolutions moving forward in the process from their policy sponsor groups to the National Prioritization.

Our Policy Process will then continue in early January 2023 for the National Prioritization period, until our Liberal Convention from May 4th to May 6th, 2023.

Our government is making retirement more affordable for Canadians. To help cover the rising cost of living, the Old Age Security (OAS) pension has increased by 10% for pensioners aged 75 or older. The first payment increase will go out on Wednesday, July 27th. This is the first permanent increase to the OAS pension since 1973, other than adjustments due to inflation. This increase will help strengthen the financial security of 3.3 million Canadian seniors by providing full pensioners with more than $800 extra over the first year. After the first year, the OAS pension will continue to be indexed for inflation.

To keep things simple, eligible seniors will not have to take any action to receive this enhancement – their payments will be automatically increased.

The permanent increase to the OAS pension will help provide older seniors with greater financial security now and in the future. Younger seniors – and all Canadians – can enjoy greater peace of mind while planning their retirement finances, knowing that they will be able to count on more support from the OAS pension in their later years.
