Martin Shaw

Marty has had an extensive career within the insurance industry and spent many years working with some of the country’s top insurance companies. He co-founded DOT Benefits Consulting, which was later acquired by NFP. Marty was an important presence in the organization and served as President of NFP in Canada for over 10 years. He paved the way for NFP’s presence in the country, and it is thanks to his strong commitment and care for people that the organization is known as a leading insurance broker and consultancy in Canada. In his work, Marty’s main focus is to leverage effective insurance strategies that are catered to every individual’s unique needs. He is all about the people and prides himself on fostering lifelong relationships with his clients while helping them meet their financial planning goals.

Gillian Johnston
Managing Partner, Professional Practice

Gillian started in the insurance business in 1990, after managing a multiple location Tennis school for children in the GTA. In 1997, she founded “Gillian Johnston Financial and Insurance Services”, which was an organization geared toward providing insurance consulting to medical professionals. With Gillian’s Dad being a General Surgeon, she knew first-hand that there was an important gap to fill in this industry and was motivated to educate medical professionals on insurance topics. In 2012 Gillian Johnston Financial merged into DOT Benefits Consulting, which was later rebranded to NFP. Gillian has been one of the country's leading Living Benefits (Disability, Critical, Illness, Office Overhead) Advisors in Canada for over 20 years. Her commitment to excellent service and agnostic advice to Medical Professionals and their families is her trademark. Outside of her profession, Gillian has a passion for running and is proud to have completed 10 ironman events and numerous marathons, including the Boston Marathon.
