How did a culture with a history of manga that goes back to the 12th century and with American occupation during WWII - and they did not influence American comics? Most histories share the inverse, that America influenced Japan. For sure, pre-war access to Disney films had an influence on anime, but that was reserved for the wealthy.

The difference with skateboarding is that it's an individual sport - so anyone, anywhere can join in at anytime.

And, yes, while skateboarding’s ethos is defined, in some ways, by resistance to authority - it inherently is a suited for all skaters. But, not all skaters will have the same experience.

Even though the first professional skateboarder was 60s Patty McGee, women have generally been excluded from the sport. There was a time when X-Games only televised the male finals from the sport, brands weren't sponsoring female athletes ond parks weren't always a welcoming space for female skaters.

With Skateboarding making its mainstream debut at the Olympics this year, it's time for brands and skate corps to try and not lose its rebellious past to help further the sport and support the growth of diversity.

Diversity is an evolution, and now that it's here, we can't sell it out.

I made it to Los Angeles but I almost didn't make it into the room!

There were a lot of stairs to the Art Deco Suite. I am pretty sure this was how Columbia Studio kept their starlets so fit. I think must have called ahead to make sure I still got my second workout in.

Totally worth it. My new home away from home is so nice and the home base for over the next few days.

They taught me that to be powerful you have to feel of powerful. You need to know what that feeling is.

Also, never be afraid to take what is yours. This world is here for you, and it wants to serve you. No path is linear but know your goal and bravely make choices that align. Sometimes those choices are hard.

For some unexplained reason the hall on the 9th floor of our hotel was filled with balloons. Obviously, I was going to play. How could I not? It was a weird empty hall, the least I could do was cheer it up with my fits of giggles.
