🎉🎉 FINAL SHOW 🎉🎉

is delighted to announce our final show “Building Houses”.

Opening next Thursday 5-7.

“Building Houses revolves around the experiences of living with oneself, as well as the practice of introspection. As I ask questions surrounding the phenomenon of displacement, my paintings are an exploration of the processes of familiarisation with a foreign space. Often times’ when entering a new space, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly why we feel uncomfortable. And vice versa - we can visit a new place or be in new surroundings and experience a sense of familiarity or belonging despite never having been there. This body of work seeks to delve into these states of being and contemplate the lengths we will take to shape our environments, as well as how these environments take effect on our own psyche.”

It cannot be heard - the glow is so far away!

Sinking to the bottom, intricate beauty, chalk eye (eyes). Absence.

“Unusual groove, what is now?”

Sinking to the bottom, on shallow water -in deep water -now closely separated.

“Unusual groove, how have you risen?”

Sinking to the bottom, on one side. Moves outward, moves inward,

their life history is not completely known.

Followed into - fallen within. The structure of absence...

these often appear weak.

It is nowthat held promise.Seemingly present(presence),seemingly unrelated -until it eventually became clear. Disentangled. Now can be weak.

🚨🚨OPENS TONIGHT | 5-8 🚨🚨

A Room With a View Gallery is delighted to announce the debut exhibition of Omar Lalani ; Tick tock, drip drop.

“‘Tick tock, drip, drop’ are the sounds of the studio as I am busy working or perched scrutinizing. These paintings were made in Milwaukee, a place with an abundance of both time and space. Surrounded with such openness, I would long for the solitude of my cramped studio, where I could escape from the oppression of these gifts. Late at night the tick tock of the second hand would also be set free from the diligent pacing around the clock, finally able to stretch its legs and roam. In this freedom it became possible for me to dig for new forms, explore the haptics of paint, and test color.”

Omar Lalani (b. 1990, Toronto, ON) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. His work has been recently exhibited at 1969 Gallery New York, New York; Little Sister, Toronto, ON; Project Gallery, Toronto, ON; AVALANCHE AVALANCHE, Calgary, AB; Sol Koffler Gallery, Providence, RI; and Woods-Gerry Gallery, Providence, RI. and was the co-founder of Pushmi-Pullyu Gallery, Toronto, ON. He received his BDes from the Alberta University of the Arts, and his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design.

🚨🚨OPENING THURSDAY🚨🚨
🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨5-8 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

A Room With a View Gallery is delighted to announce the debut exhibition of Omar Lalani ; Tick tock, drip drop.

The title, Tick tock, drip drop, refers to many things. Namely the time and process involved making these works whilst he was based in Milwaukee, away from family, friends, and community.

Thus, the exploration of forms and the possibilities of paint and the action of painting, provided sustenance. As the artist writes:

“I would long for the hours of the night, where time would dissolve and it felt as though the lights were blazing. Free from the oppression of time. This was also a period of time where I connected music to my process, ‘Tick tock, drip drop’ is rhythmic. Painting is and always will be a place for me to clear the fog and sediment, to be in my body, and to feel free.”
