As a coach, it's really cool to see people hit personal goals in the gym but among the most rewarding things we can do is using movement as a tool for getting people out of pain.

Taheeza started Quiktrain knowing she could do better with her health and weight but traditional bodybuilding programs and strict dieting seemed unappealing and unsustainable.

She attempted to tackle the problem on her own but because she wasn’t comfortable in a gym setting her previous attempts at weight loss had her spending hours a week on cardio machines with mediocre results.

We immediately started with simple beginner strength training circuits to build her confidence in the gym. Having a program plan helped her to navigate the unfamiliar territory and kept her time efficient and effective.

Using just 4 guidelines we adjusted her entire perception of food allowing her to eat intuitively without life crippling food restrictions.

As you can expect we had many ups and downs. Real change is rarely linear but she stayed committed to our performance goals which ultimately drove her progress. You wouldn’t believe how strong and fast she became and as a result, achieved amazing results.

Is your stretching routine putting you at risk of injury?

Congratulations 🥳 if you even attempt to stretch before a workout but if you are doing static stretching (stretching and holding) you may actually be decreasing your ability to perform.😔 See, when you stretch and hold, the muscle relaxes and increases in laxity. When those same muscles are exposed to loaded or powerful movements you are at a higher risk of tears sprains and fatigue. 😩🤕😓

Instead try dynamic stretching. 💪🏾This brand of stretching not only lengthens muscles but it increases useful range of motion while prepping the body for to perform under load, speed and unpredictable conditions.🏋🏾‍♂️Save the static stretching for post workout 🧘🏾and try these instead! 🙌🏾

David was far from out of shape when he contacted me.

He was working with a basic routine he had pieced together from google but knew he could get more from a properly structured training and nutrition plan and a coach to be accountable to.

People meet Bianca and comment on her remarkable temperament. She’s happy, friendly, energetic, enthusiastic and tends to light up a room with her personality. Most say “you guys got really lucky” and maybe that’s the case. Or maybe just took all her best qualities and poured it into our daughter. I always say It takes a lot of hard work to appear lucky. If you know our story and you know my wife you’ll probably agree Bianca and I are the ones who got lucky. ☺️❤️

This was not a cut. I didn’t count calories nor did I count macros. I didn’t go keto or vegan nor did I do a juice cleanse.

And despite lack of any trendy techniques, I got what some would consider good results in 21 days. I didn’t really invest a lot more time. I just chose the actions that deliver results and ignored all the needless complexity. It was actually lot of fun and I don’t feel like a fat dad anymore. (The covid 19 is too real 😅)

In another 3 -4 weeks, I’ll be light enough and bouncy enough to start running outdoors again and have it ACTUALLY FEEL GOOD. My joints are already thanking me. ☺️

Its all driven by companies selling temporary emotional comfort and no real solutions. So what matters? Heres my short list.

The idea that you have to be constantly changing your routine is whats actually holding you back!

You see, exercise is a signal to the body that it needs to adapt to a specific demand. If you are exposed to the same stimulus enough times, you have an adaptation that is lasting.

Doing random workouts not tailored to your level or fat loss goals may seem more interesting but are definitely way less effective.

Dumbell Quikcircuit comin at ya!

Don’t let the stop your progress. Workouts keep your immune system strong and your mind sharp. We’ll get through this!

Complete 4 rounds of:

Dumbbell thrusters x 8
Sumo squat to high pull x 8
Dumbbell burpee jumps x 8

Note: if you only have access to very light dumbbells use higher reps (15-20reps)

If you only have heavy dumbbells use a lower rep range(4-6reps)

Short on gym time today?! Check out one of my that hits the full body, (with a focus on the glutes) uses very few pieces of equipment and if done with minimal rest, is also a great fat burner!

Select a weight that feels heavy (7,8 out of 10) but you can still execute your reps to perfection. The key here is the accumulation of work throughout the four rounds so there is no need to max out. Look for the perfect contraction every time and pick a weight that allows you to complete all your rounds with good form. 1️⃣Make strength gains🏋🏾‍♂️
Adding muscle is the most efficient way to maintain a healthy, lean physique because muscle is metabolically active tissue. That means the more muscle you have, the more calories burned at rest with no additional effort. Key movements that give back the most fat-burning benefit for your time in the gym are Squats, Deadlifts, Chin-ups and Push-ups - or jump on a program and we’ll customize the exercises that suit you best.

2️⃣Consume a variety of protein🍗
Studies show that consuming protein controls appetite by stabilizing blood sugar levels, keeping you full for longer. A variety of complete proteins ensures your recovery is optimal, and soft tissues like skin, ligaments and tendons have adequate nutrients for repair. Eat meat? Try to consume a variety of hormone-free, grass-fed meats when possible. On a diet? Make sure to partner your proteins correctly to get a full amino acid profile and reduce the chance of nutrient deficiency.

3️⃣Conquer the basics 🧘🏾‍♂️
Significant improvements in metabolism can be made with lifestyle adjustments too. Take this in – Just a couple nights of poor sleep can raise your fasted blood sugar levels triggering intense cravings for sugar and dense carbohydrates. This makes maintaining difficult to stick to.

Poor sleep also decreases performance in the gym by raising perceived exertion in endurance & strength-based measures.
